I my case, I started with an Orchard Bank card in 2011, then got a preapproval for a Cap One Platinum card in 2012, then the Orchard card turned into a Capital
One Platinum card with the merger/buyout. So then I had two Platinum cards, and I called one day in February or March of this year and I got both cards upgraded - the one that started out as Orchard was upgraded to QS1, and the Platinum card was upgraded to QS.
I have two Quicksilver One cards because one was formerly Orchard Bank but converted to Cap 1. At the time, I already had a Cap 1 Platinum card, this gave me two. Then, later I had them both upgraded to Quicksilver One cards
So i have a question... I first opened a secured card with capital one. waited 30 days and checked the pre qualify button and got approved 500 with QS1. i applied yesterday for another card but cap1 declined it. so i called an they said its because im only allowed 2 cards & i already have them. SOOOOOO my question is should i cancel my secured card & apply for another card in a month or so? I also have credit one and total card but dont really use them much. those are more as back up cards.
any assistance would be helpful.
You can have up to five cap one accounts.
They are all treated seperately and will qualify for CLIs, etc seperately.
You just apply like you normal for another card.
Yes, you can still get prequalified, but it is not required.

This is the same exact thing that happened to me. Had Platinum MC with Cap 1 and a Visa with Orchard Bank -> Cap 1. Was able to pc them both to QS easily enough.

Shawndoe79 did they also increase your limit or just upgrade your card?
