How long does Capital One usually take to process and approve credit card applications? My sister and I both applied tonight and her application was approved INSTANTLY. I received the 7-10 days notice --I called in, but was told to call back within 24-48 hours because it is still being processed.
Many Cap1 applicants get that 7-10 day message. This is primarily due to additional information that needs to be verified. You did the right thing by calling, but it may have been just a wee bit too soon. Give it 24 hours, then give them another call. They'll either have you verify your identity verbally through a series of questions or have you fax your ID or other information to confirm. When all checks out, you should have your card in about 10 days.

I hope that is the case. I applied last year and was given a denial almost immediately. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed....
**UPDATE** My application was approved this morning! I wasn't giving a credit limit just yet. I was told to call back in a day or two for that information to be updated. Is there anyway to find out what my credit limit is?

Congrats! I can tell you you CL now. Between $300-$500. Which card you applied for?

Thanks! You're probably right because before my sister applied, we checked her FICO scores are they were all between 700-726 and she was approved with a limit of: $500. I believe I applied for either the Classic or Standard Platinum card.

Nothing has change about Cap 1. They're still dealing out $300- $500 CL.. I almost believed they base the initial limits on applicants age and if they're a student.
IMHO, if you have Good to Excellent Scores (as per Cap One standards) you should apply for their higher end card(s). I think someone should make a sticky informing everyone that Cap One DOES give out limits higher than 300-750. Based on your reports and the card that you apply for, they give out high limits as well. But their platinum card is not "platinum" at all.
Just my .02
***Update***
DI was right; Capital One limits are usually between $300-$500. My application was approved with a limit of: $500. My sister and I both have FICO scores in the low to mid 700's with low utilization.
