Capital one and blacklisting...for how long?

i had a capital one account go bad many years ago - it should fall off in Nov of this year however.

Does anyone know if they blacklist and if so, is that a forever thing OR is it just until it's off your credit report?

any input would be appreciated. thanks so much.

Re: Capital one and blacklisting...for how long?

daisy and for anyone else bout cap 1...

I had a CO from Cap 1 from 2006 which I paid in 2007 and tried to do a PFD and tried to get them to remove the neg comments but they didnt and at that time I did not know any better so I just left it. Fast forward to Apr/May and I tried to call their exec building and sent atleast 3 or 4 GW letters for them to remove the neg comments and the account from my CBR but they didnt. Anyway, fast forward to June and I was at home one day and bored and decided to call cust serv and see if they would help - got transferred to credit dept and than to retention and than to charge off dept and than to closed accts dept - I got a nice guy from Phillipines and I talked to him really nicely and I explained the situation and give him the acct number for the charged off acct and he could not find it and I explained how it is affecting my CBR and so on - talked a little about manny pacquiao and ricky hatton right etc and just a friendly convo - he came back and said he cudnt locate the account at all (think he might have been a supervisor) and so I told him dont you think its unfair that its showing up on credit report - he agreed and said he would further look into it and request some reseacrh - a couple weeks later got a letter from cap 1 saying they will contact the 3 cbr and remove the account stated and al neg comments. Hope this helps to anyone. I currently have a squeeqy clean report with no lates, no co and no collections.

Re: Capital one and blacklisting...for how long?

I've had three BAD accounts with them. After I got my Orchard card and establish a few months of good payment history, I applied for Cap One and was approved for $500. If I had just one bad account I would send a GW letter. But with more than one, I'll just let the negatives fall off in time. I'm glad they gave me another chance!

Cap 1 is good with second chances - I think however it helps if you have paid off any badies you may have had with them. The only thing I dont like is they dont grow and also they pull all 3 Credit reports.

Thanks for the info!

SAFE - how old were your accounts that you had and how long ago did they issue you new credit? my reason for asking is i think lenders have tightend their belts and are much more conservative, than the good old days!

i am sure i only ever had one bad account but it's due to drop anyway and i dont' want to add fire to the fuel and start anything with them. i want them to go away, silently. if they are past the crtp. i'll send a fax. sent ex a fax about this account on friday sept 11, on monday pulled my ex real time report and voila, gonezo baby. didn't work for tu i think it's still on either tu or eq. can't remember...

maybe i should let it come off before applying.

Years ago I punted a partially secured account with Cap1. Since then I have received zero pre-app offers from them - in 15 or so years. Cap1 is a fairly notorious bottom feeder. They have something for everybody, most likely including me. The reasons above will make it fairly unlikely I will app them for anything. I have pretty much moved beyond the need.

Re: Capital one and blacklisting...for how long?

CWCID,

Cap 1 is sort of dodgy when it comes to their rates and some of their policies, CL's, fees and they do tend to look for people with less than perfect credit and some of their practices are unfair. I dont think you are missing out on too much by no having them, I wouldnt even worry. I apped with them when I didnt know much about myfico and credit reporting etc. I just transfered the balance from the card (250.00) to my penfed with 5.9% apr, after which the cap 1 will just be sitting in the drawer - i may use it once 3-6months.
