Clicked on the existing thread and basically saw my same question 80 times lol. Means nothing but sounds good 🤷🏽♂️
I received it, too. No increase, no new card. Needless to say, I was not impressed, but then again, IMHO there isn't anything about my Quicksilver card that impresses me either. Just my opinion.

About as good as being entered in a Publisher Clearing House drawing

Yes not sure why members don't utilize the search feature 🙄
@Just_my_opinion wrote:I was a little curious about this topic since I also recently been "upgraded" to the World Elite Mastercard by Capital One.
The following is just a little more insight on what this change in status actually represents:
- Although the card has been upgraded to the World Elite Mastercard, the card original perks and rewards will remain the same. i.e. Cash Rewards
- Capital One has indicated that all previously issued QuickSilver Cards that were issued as an Visa card will in fact now convert to a Mastercard and the Visa will be eliminated.
- Lastly, although the card has been upgraded to the World Elite Mastercard status; remember that currently there is not any credit cards on the market issued by banks as World Elite but are only granted the status of World Elite which includes the concerige, hotel, and other travel perks for the cardholder and therefore your card is still considered a QuickSilver issued credit card; yet now with the include perks mentioned previously.
I hope this helps to clarify some of the concerns and questions many had regarding the recent email you may have received regarding the changes or upgrades to your QuickSilver Mastercard.
Best of luck to you one and all on your credit journeys.
Is this in print somewhere?
If so maybe I just missed it, but I've never known Capital One to change the network of an existing account. Well, the one exception is when they've purchased portfolios from other banks that include Amex or Discover... those get converted to Visa or Mastercard.
I find this thread very interesting.
I have a Capital One QuickSilver (no Annual Fee) that was initially a Platinum (but I product changed it from Platinum to Quick Silver some six months ago).
It shows as a "Quicksilver Credit Card | Platinum Mastercard ending in xxxx" on my current statement (and on all others since the PC).
I received the email that most of the free world seems to have received. I am sure that next statement that I receive (well, view on-line as I have "on-line only" statements) will reflect the change from a week ago.
I will say that I am rather grateful for the change. Whether or not I use the added benefits is - to me - not the point. They are now available, and available from a no Annual Fee card. These added benefits could indeed be useful. That all depends on me, my habits, and my choices.
Everyone is going to run his/her race in his/her own way. And that is the way it should be. But it seems that most in this thread are quite dismissive of this change. And that is fine. I try to be grateful for things.

As the owner of a VS version (S/D) I don't have skin in the game here. But I think the dismissiveness comes, for some, from some initial excitement, from those who a) thought that the upgrade was much more selective than it appears to be, and thus b) hoped it indicated that this was the start of an improved relationship, especially allowing successful CLIs.
It's hard to argue that this is a negative for a consumer, but, IMO, it is potentially much more positive for Cap One, and the increased benefits aren't going to be all that useful to many. So gratitude is not so necessary, and along with hopes for CLI being dashed and the realization that "Oh, maybe they don't love only me!" leads to the reactions you see here.
Saw this in the mail, thinking "Oh Cool, they PC'ed me to a different card bucket...yayyy!"
Then, after hitting the forum search engine...lol.
To be brutally honest, Cap1 is at BEST a rebuilding card with somewhat better business practices than the *really* preditory card companies...but growing their cards even incrementaly, is hard going. Getting CLI's out of them, unless you're already at the table with excellent credit to begin with (again, IMHO) seems to be the rule, not the exception.
That being said, the level of perks offered with this addition to this level of MC (Mines was a Platinum until it got frozen, then they issued me a QS1 account for last 5 years) is good for a sub 600/thin file/student rebuilder, because while they ARE offered on AmEx and Disco (most of the perks listed in the .PDF are either offered free or PayPerUse) but if you have a subprime card or even a Secured one, you'll probably be LESS likely to have this suite of perks, let alone for no HIGH AF or additional scheduled payments. So at least if you have some type of C1 card, at least you're getting SOMETHING to offset the low CL...lol.
I'm pretty much sockdrawer my QS1; I use it in emergencies only (gas, etc) and will zero it out in a few months, and then auto-charge one of my book services and have it pay off the following week.
It is name and logo only.
Like the Citi Custom Cash or Double Cash cards that WEMC logo means nothing, and you don't have access to WEMC benefits.
If I recall, the only non annual fee card that offers WEMC benefits is hte Chase Freedom Flex, actually includes cell phone protection.
