Re: Cap One QS no CLI but upgraded to WEM

Yup, same email. Thanks for nothing CapOne 😂

My CapOne started as a Platinum MC. I got an upgrade several years ago but my statement always said Platinum Quicksilver. No CLI since. So it's a SD card or if I travel to Mexico I use it since it has a decent limit and no FTFs.

Capital One QuickSilver Upgrade to World Elite Mastercard

I was a little curious about this topic since I also recently been "upgraded" to the World Elite Mastercard by Capital One.

The following is just a little more insight on what this change in status actually represents:

  1. Although the card has been upgraded to the World Elite Mastercard, the card original perks and rewards will remain the same. i.e. Cash Rewards
  2. Capital One has indicated that all previously issued QuickSilver Cards that were issued as an Visa card will in fact now convert to a Mastercard and the Visa will be eliminated.
  3. Lastly, although the card has been upgraded to the World Elite Mastercard status; remember that currently there is not any credit cards on the market issued by banks as World Elite but are only granted the status of World Elite which includes the concerige, hotel, and other travel perks for the cardholder and therefore your card is still considered a QuickSilver issued credit card; yet now with the include perks mentioned previously.

I hope this helps to clarify some of the concerns and questions many had regarding the recent email you may have received regarding the changes or upgrades to your QuickSilver Mastercard.

Best of luck to you one and all on your credit journeys.

Doesn't seem like any big deal. I am wondering what your source of info is, though? Haven't seen a lot on this that's official.

Re: Cap One QS no CLI but upgraded to WEM

May be unrelated, but the timing is interesting: I just got an email from Cap1 / Schlesinger asking me to participate in a survey. There were only 4 real questions, with a 1-5 scale:

  1. The credit limit meets my financial needs
  2. I am satisified with the rewards
  3. As my financial needs change, I believe the card will evolve to fit my needs
  4. How would you rate the card relative to your other credit cards

Asking about rewards and competitors seem to be very basic and obvious questions that any financial institution would ask, but the other two are more interesting, because they both seem to be asking about bucketing. Which suggests they may be rethinking their approach.

That is very interesting! Wonder if Cap1 is doing away from QuickSilver... 1.5 cash back is not as popular as when it came out!

I would like to see the source of this info too and read more about it!

Re: Capital One QuickSilver Upgrade to World Elite Mastercard

My sources are a combination of the email notifying me of my World Elite upgrade status and my conversation with a Capital One representative on clarifying what is the status of my cash rewards linked to my account.

The representative stated that account is still listed as QuickSilver w/o an AF just for reference sake..

Re: Capital One World Elite Mastercard

I want to say I appreciate this thread!  My Quicksilver has always been a "world elite" but this thread prompted me to go look at the benefits again and ultimately to check recent big purchases for price match guarantee.  The washer/dryer I bought last month are now $150 less EACH and I just submitted claims.  Thanks all!

I got an email from Cap1 saying that my account has been upgraded to a World Elite Mastercard. The card stays the same, apr rate, limit, current rewards, etc. Soooooooo what exactly does this mean?

There's an existing thread about this; it's basically a change in name only, i.e., any new benefits aren't likely to even be used by most people.

+1

Basically just a benefits upgrade and a chance for Cap One to collect higher swipe fees from merchants. Lol.
