Capitol One EO Preparation

Alright, so I recently emailed the EO yesterday after reading about the success I've seen some people have through them. I was recently given the opportunity to PC from the platinum mastercard to the QuickSilver card, but I've gotten a lot of pushback for some reason that's delaying the process. I have the card and its been activated but it's still showing up as the card before the PC, so I may not be receiving any of the new card benefits. Every time I speak to a rep, I get the same sarcasting response that "you have to wait some time" that's literally the sentance they say/type to me.

So, on top of this getting fixed I'm also going to be asking for some type of increase for my credit limit, as well as seeing if there's an opportunity to ask to be upgraded to a world mastercard. (If CO even has that.) I heard asking for more is always better because they always "try to meet you in the middle somewhere."

So tell me, how was your guys' experiences with speaking with the EO? She called me during work and I'm going to have to speak with her after I get off, because she left me a number to call her back. What kind of questions did she ask, what seemed to help your case?

Don't have to be specific, I guess. I just would like to be prepared.

Yanno? ♥

I've spoken with them on many occasions and it's pretty casual so I wouldn't stress about it. In terms of your PC, go onto the website and click "rewards summary" under the name of your card, and that will tell you if your rewards structure has been changed or not. (It'll open another screen and look under the redeem rewards button"

Re: Capitol One EO Preparation

Just went through the same process with the Executive Office. While they are mroe helpful than the standard outsourced customer service, they really don't have much ability to get you what you want.

I started out with the credit steps 500.00 limit no hassle newcomers rewards card, cli to 750.00 after a few months...then nothing for over 2 years from them. Called the executive office and requested a CLI to more reasonable limits. Long story short, they PC me to the Quicksilver card and increased my limit to $2,500.00. I asked them why such a small increase in comparison to other cards and she said that there is no other available information at this time and to check back in 6 months.

It's better than nothing, but don't expect to get a world mastercard out of them ever essentially

Re: Capitol One EO Preparation

What kind of questions did they ask you? I just don't want to feel like I'm being interrogated. I legitimately would just like to get some more incentive to use the card more, because it was my frist line of credit, and my only mastercard.

It currently has my highest APR of 24.99% I believe, my lowest being my Amex at 12. something... APR doesn't much matter to be though, because I always PIF. However, as previously stated, I've seen that people who ask for more tend to get closer to what they actually want.

As far as the rewards, to keeps saying we're unable to process your reques at this time. But I guess that may be because they're in the middle of transfering thigns over? Every time I ask a rep they make the whole process seem really shady...

Re: Capitol One EO Preparation

Questions they will ask

Income

Assets

Rent or mortgage payment

Amount of CLI and will you accept a lesser sum

Request made to them

APR reduction

Rewards added

AF waiver

PC's

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Capitol One EO Preparation

I keep getting the same answer regarding my recent PC from Plat to Quicksilver. The new reqards structure is in place and I have my new card, the system apparently is just not updating immediately. And I've seen many people on this forum mention the same thing, so I think it's universal.

When I called the EO, they waived last year's and this year's annual fees and assured me that they would continue to do so 'just call me back next year and I'll take care of it' he said. He wasn't able to do much on the CLI though. I started with an initial $500, got an auto CLI to $750 about 6 months in, and then it was 6 months later that I contacted the EO and they were only able to raise it to $1000, but it was a soft pull at least.

Re: Capitol One EO Preparation

They didn't ask me anything about income or assets actually, which surprised me. I explained to the rep that I had other accounts and cards that were more than happy to approve me for "prime" limits, while Capital One seems to pigeon hole me in the average credit category

My guess is that they don't really have a system that graduates starter cards to prime cards over time and that these requests handled through the executive office are a fairly new thing for them to deal with.

Sorry you didn't get the right EO person...Bad move by CAP1

But they have been handling request through the EO for almost 2 years and as a matter of fact I spoke with them this morning for my 2nd attempt for 2 CLI's as well as change my 1.5% rewards to 2%

My first resulted in 2 accounts being doubled in March of this year

Just my thoughts but you should try again maybe you'll get a better trained rep

Good luck

Re: Capitol One EO Preparation

Talked to the EO on my way home yesterday, was a pleasurable experience.

She was very nice and somewhat humorous. I guess you have to be in her line of work.

Anywho, no World MC option, knew that was coming. But  I just had to ask.

I did get the PC done completely, she said they've had issues with the PC cards showing up correctly online, but she'll look into it.

As far as a CLI she put the request in for me. Said it is a manual review so it may take 3-5 business days, is this normal for everyone?

She said she'd call me back with the results, and going forward she's be happy to be my point of contact, which is nice.

No more speaking with first line reps anymore!

I'm excited and nervous for the possible CLI, I asked for 5k, which I probably won't get, but asking for more was the right thing to do, rather than less, right?

How long did you guys wait until you heard back, was it instant for you? Did you answer "yes" to accepting a lower limit if the one you requested is not possible?

For which card are you asking to be changed from 1.5% rewards to 2%? QuickSilver? Is such a thing possible?
