Re: Capitol One Multiple Cards

I don't think that having a zero balance helps. I asked for CLI with zero balance and was told "no", maybe the trick is to ask for one and seem unhappy and then a few days later ask again and the system will have magically updated with a CL for you.

Re: Capitol One Multiple Cards

I just wanted to resurrect this thread, because I too was recently denied a CLI increase, but went online and app'd for their other "average credit" card asking for a balance transfer for my Orchard and was approved................so apparently they are still allowing multiple cards and this may be an alterntive way to improve util.

I posted the gist of this back in May.

I have one Cap One card since May 2007, and they gave me the credit steps from $300 to $500. I didn't know then about the call for increase before the step.

May 2008, the CSR said that I could not get a CLI, but that I could apply for another card and may get a much higher CL. He told me that Cap One allows up to FIVE cards.

Imagine that!

I'm not sure if he is correct on this. The reason why I say this is because I currently have 2 cc with Capital One, and recently tried to apply for a third one and was automatically declined. The letter stated that I had too many Capital One accounts..? Hmm, I don't know.

Re: Capitol One Multiple Cards

I only posted what the CSR told me in May of 2008. I find it helpful when folks post their personal experiences on here so I try to do the same. Maybe  that was Cap One's policy at that time, or maybe it was changed since then.

Chase has a new mobile site. I tried to make a payment on my Blackberry a couple of weeks ago and got a weird error message. I called Chase and was told by a CSR that I could only make a payment every 15 days (!) and did I want to sign up for the Payment Protector, blah blah blah.

I went home and made a payment, my third of the billing cycle. So obviously what that CSR told me was wrong. I decided not to post that little episode.

As always, YMMV.

Cap 1 can keep my limit at $750 for another 10 years.  I will NEVER carry two of its products at the same time.
