Re: Capitol One multiple card question

Yes, if you have two credit card account with them, they will be able to combine them together. Just make sure they keep the oldest account.

I did this about a year ago.

Hope this helps

Re: Capitol One multiple card question

I thought that Cap One announced within the last several months that they would no longer combine. But I genuinely don't know for sure, though. I've melted down under the continually-changing policies from all the lenders. Smiley Tongue

OP, I would call Cap One CS and ask if they still allow combinations.

Re: Capitol One multiple card question

I never understood why Cap 1 issues multiple cards, rather then issue a PC and raise the limits.   I guess it doesn't cost them a thing to print out the plactic.

Re: Capitol One multiple card question

why? very simple they can charge mulp. yearly fees and if you make a mistake they can charge you over the limit, late fee too.

Re: Capitol One multiple card question

Many CapOne cards have no AF (when speaking of their prime cards).  So in those cases, it would have nothing to do with those fees.

But, CapOne does appear to look at each card as a separate deal.  They seem to like a lot of smaller CL's vs fewer big CL's.  But they do issue higher CL's too.  Personal cards can go as high as $20k (and at one time they had a card up to $30k).  Bus cards can go even higher.

This has been a standard procedure for Cap1 forever and it does not spring from positive roots. The origin of this practice relates to Cap1's practice of "fee harvesting" cardholders by sticking them with multiple low limit cards as opposed to one higher limit card. In the past the notorious bottom feeder Cap1 was more than willing to issue another $500 CL account to those who were already OL on multiple other $500 CL cards. For many this created a hopeless mire of OL and late payment fees from which they would never recover.

Re: Capitol One multiple card question

I recently attempted to combine cards. Was told by multiple reps that they are not combining any longer although I did not push very hard. YMMV.

Thanks everyone,

I also wanted to know if I got approved for another card would that effect my total limit. My question is does Cap1 look at your total line or does each card stand on its own?
