Re: Capo 1 question

Nice and congrats!! Clearly it grows for some but not for a significant number of others.  What confuses me is why they would want me to move on to other prime lenders who offered me high cl's and prime rates, when they could have so readily increased the revenue on my account with bumpage.  I'm guessing there are several different tiers even within their starter card roster -mine being toward the bottom of the barrell, perhaps... It will grow with you! I started with $300 then bumped to $600 in a month, $1100 in three months, then I combined it with a $500 card that was bumped to $1000. Then combined it to $2100, then they bumped me to $2850, all in 6 months. I put $1400 on the card already this month and I'll PIF hopefully more bumpage!

It all depends on which card type you get.  The typical rebuilder card that participates in the "Credit Steps" program does not grow with you.  You start with a $300 CL, then after three timely payments you get a CLI to $500.  You may get occasional additional CLIs, but the CL will never go higher than $3K.  Some of these cards will never go past $500.  Ever.

You got a CLI from $300 to $600 in only a month, which makes me think your card may not have been one of these "Credit Steps" rebuilder cards.  Even if it is one of those cards, your CL is still only $2850.  If you get over $3K let us know, since that's the ceiling I'm referring to.

When I applied:  620ish.  Total available credit $700.  Cap1 CL: $300.

Today:  700ish.  Total available credit around $24K.  Cap1 CL: $500.

Still think they grow with you?

Re: Capo 1 question

I did start with the credit steps card! The one with the little payment reminder stickers! I used the special CapOne phone number to get these increases. I used the card a lot and I think usage is key with CLI's. And I will let you know if I get over $3K!

Please do!  If you get over $3K on a Credit Steps card that will be great to hear.

I do use my card a lot, BTW.  I have the cashback card, so I use it as much as my piddly limit will allow.  Still no luv for me.

Re: Capo 1 question

I use the card frequently and always pay on time (way early actually) i've tried the back door number to no avail- 3k! i've been stuck at 500 for more than five years while other prime issuers have basically courted me with prime offers and high cli's, cie la vie Smiley Very Happy

Re: Capo 1 question

I have this one. I did get my line doubled within a 2 month period (I have only had it 2 months) The csr I spoke with did tell me it had a ceiling of 3k and if I wanted higher, I'd have to apply for another card. (No thanks!)

CSR said they like to see alot of usage. I don't think they mean max it out and revolve a balance. I've used mine and paid off the charges as they posted. Not really big balances either.

Me too.  Charge $100, PIF, charge $150 or so, PIF, repeat.  Never revolved a balance on this card.

They still hate me.  I predict the feeling will be mutual soon.

Re: Capo 1 question

Wow double in two months!  you must be on their preferred customer list or something, no?
Unless cap1 has morphed into amex i am not sure why a revolver who periodically pifs woudn't be welcomed w/ open arms.  I tended to pif this card over 7+ years but then thought i should change it up and throw them some finance charges (revolving balances under 30%) since i got my apr down to around11% which didn't seem too too bad i figured what the hay, thought maybe they'd like me more then but nope.

Thank you for being the guinea pig then.  That was going to be my next tactic.  I thought maybe if I gave them some finance charge love they'd give me a little CLI love.  After hearing your experience, I won't even waste my time (or money) trying that now.
