Hi all
I have a few bad apr cards and want to cansel them. But I want to know if I do cansel them if and wen I aplly/get a new card if the previus avelabul credit will go to the new card ? ex; I have 2 cards that have 1k+ limit each will the new card get 2k+ max credit ? Or shuld I just get the new card than cansel my old ones and ask the new one to increas my credit ?
PS: the new card I want to get is chase and one of my other cards is also chase if that helps/makes a diferance.
That is a very complicated question! Many ifs that would effect the outcome.
If one of them is the oldest card by few months, then keep it to help your history. At the same time, many companies look at companies revolving CCs you have before issuing additional card Etc...
Also when you show great history and utli you can easily get a new CC with much higher CL that you already have.
I canceled my 1st 2 cards after rebuild. Creditone and FirPri but kept the Cap1 QS1 and grew it from there.
Hi and welcome to the forums
When card is closed, your credit line is gone, you dont get to "take" it to a new lender.
I do have a somewhat technical question for you, how come "cancelling" is spelled right in the title, but "cansel" didnt get autocorrected or underlined in red if on PC?
Might sound like a weird question, but it really isn't.
I have a few older cards. Ty for input PS; one card I want to cansel is chase and the new card I want is chase.
Good to know ty.. So if I keep my cards it will not decreas the new cards posabule max credit ?
Sorry I'm supa eliterit.. droped out in kindigarden... so spell check/google search is a guse for me. ODD I'm not geting the red underline like I ushaly get.
Keeping your current cards open with no/or 1 acc w. balances on them is a good thing, and in fact will probably help your chances at a higher SL in the future among other factors ofcourse
it's not so much the card you get.. its the tradeline with the bank, every bank works differently as far as re-allocating limits around but even then its ONLY possible with that bank-issued card/s.. American Express won't transfer your Chase $1,000 credit limit over.. you apply for amex after you close or alongside the chase card.
Your odds of approval and CL's is one that nobody here will fully accurately answer (cause there isn't one), i'd advice searching the forums for your particular/or similar credit experience that you either have had or are about to go about to get a better feel where you stand at least.
Fair worning to all. I'm very eliterit and for some resion my spelcheck is not working.
I dont know what SL is !?
I probly shuld have stated in the first post that I have ben playing with the credit emulators and know lots. I know my max credit line afects disitions and score.
I did not know that the banks don't use my totol avelabul credit as a marker on being a canadit for what I have ben chating about. I never thout that a persion needs to stay with the baink thay have the best reputaion. TY for that
I now only need to google whats the diferance if a bank gives/use's ie. visa or master.
PS: Thows credit emulators work wonders. I have ben using CapitalOne's.. I dont remimber its name.
Starting Limit.
They do look at your current lines as an indicator of how much risk they might be willing to extend or if at all but then again theres a million other credit factors on your reports that they can consider that can change all that.. the more available you show is better for future apps/CLI's BUT isn't everything and shouldn't be construed as ill-informed advice of opening as many as possible/getting the most credit in a short time
