I really need to update my signature but I did it through Publisher so it takes many steps to do it.
I decided that having 14 cards was just too many for my to manage and since the majority are Visas, I thought do I really need that many. Today I closed:
Cabela's: $5000: offered pretty much nothing unless you shop often there.
Duck Card $2500: Very rarely used and sat in sock drawer for most of the time.
Capital One VentureOne: $10000: did not use it that often and I have much better reward cards.
Dillard's Amex: $7500: they irritated me today because I logged in and apparently half of my reward points expired.
I called Chase to close my freedom account and they transferred me to a retention supervisor. He offered $50 in rewards for me to keep the card, I decided to take that. I really would have regretted that one.
I also called Bank of America to ask them to lower my APR, they did! It went from 21% to 14%. I also requested a CLI to $15000 online. I got the 7-10 message. I logged in today and they did do a CLI to $10000.
So now my current cards are:
Amex BCE:4,800
BofA Power Rewards WMC: $10000
Chase Freedom:$10000
Chase Marriott Premier:$5000
DCU:$1000
Discover IT:$1900
Elan card from local bank:$9000
Local CU card:$3500
PenFed Platinum Rewards VS:$5000
Sallie Mae:$8000
Anyway if you read this, thanks for reading!
I just want to let somebody know, because everyone that I know is not at all interested in credit cards! lol
Totally get it. No one I know is even interested in their credit profile. Its nice to come here and talk to people who understand

Peace out Duck card!! Why were you considering closing the Freedom card?

When I ask people I know if they have a credit card, they usually say: " No, I don't and I never will, I just use my debit card." All I can think of is: "What if you have an emergency and need to spend more money than what is in your checking?" But, whatever, I have this forum that I can read where people are interested in credit.

I was just thinking that I have Discover and Sallie Mae, both of which offer similar rewards. I was also just trying to get the number of Visa cards that I have down. Plus the Freedom has a 23% APR, but I never carry a balance. I am really glad now that I didn't because I think I would have missed it.
Nice trim job and cli! I don't think I could have passed up the $50 either. The freedom is a good card imo

Did you mention the APR to the retention specialist? Just curious if they have any pull when it comes to adjusting it.

No, I thought of that right after I hung up.
WooHoo! Good job! You know I was a little worried about you last year but it appears you have done well.
