No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Best way to not have closing cards effect you credit wise is to pay down all your credit card debt first.
You mentioned military deployment. Go join NFCU, (Navy Federal Credit Union). You can join with any military affiliation. They give out very large credit limits right off the bat. It’s not uncommon to start with $5-10,000 limits. Both of you can join. In a year you will have $20K in credit each.
Once you get rewards cards that you can use anywhere, store cards become like an annoying chore or second job you need to manage. Not worth it at that point.

If you don't mind me asking , when was the last time you used the Wayfair card ?
Just an update - I sent a secure message in my wayfair account asking if they would let me know why the account was closed and it was due to inactivity. I guess it was just weird timing! I'm glad to know that is what it was though. I was bracing myself for a mass comenity closing spree
