Re: Cards you're considering getting later this year.......?

Possibly another BBR...also the new Cap1 Premier Dining WEMC looks kinda tempting, but I prolly won't end up apping for that one...

Other than that, I am very happy with the current state of my existing collection of cards Smiley Happy

Re: Cards you're considering getting later this year.......?

I like the Chase Trifecta ( Freedom, FU and CSR) and Penfed. However, I think I'm going to stay in the garden until 3/2018. (it's gonna be hard though)

I just applied for 4 cards in the last month. It's time to sit back and focus on CLI only.

My husband will be applying for a few cards this Summer so I'll be able to live vicariously through him.

I really want the Citi Premier by years end even if I have to cancel my secured pre-graduation for a chance at it.

What's the appeal? I've just not heard much interest from others in it lately. Have a lot of miscellaneous travel and gas spend?

I'm a month or so away from cancelling Prestige, so I'm more in the "orderly exit" mindset when it comes to the TY program.

I've nothing in particular in mind for later this year. Maybe a proper business card for my limited out-of-pocket professional expenses...or a primary PIN card.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

It pairs well with my checking account in the program and since I can also charge my rent, along with it being my daily driver it can yield a ton amount of points per monthon a PIF. My grail is the Prestige but I just figured my profile won't be there for quite some time and I can PC over by then.

And what are you planning to do with all the TY points?   That's where a lot of people get stuck!

Actually I will probably go the opposite direction and cut the number of cards I have and combine some cards. I may look for another card late this year, but thats a big if.

Possibly an Amex Plat. More than likely will be the Amex SPG though.

I like the perks of the Amex Plat, but Charge cards scare me a bit.

That's part of what bugs me. After six AA redemptions (all with Admirals Club access, my main upcoming point of contention) I see nothing I'm remotely interested in to do with TYs. I think Hilton's the only program I'm already in, and the ratio is unappealing.

I mean, sure, they can give me a retention offer of points for spend...but the marginal value of putting that spend on Prestige over SPG will be small.

Re: Cards you're considering getting later this year.......?

I'm only looking to add 2 cards this year, plus a PC:

  1. Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature
  2. Citi TY Premier
  3. PC my Citi DP to a Double Cash in early August (which is when the 0% APR for 21 months promo ends on the DP)

Rationale:

  1. Being a Prime member, my household spends a bit thru Amazon, so I think the 5% rewards makes sense, coupled with the 2% from restaurants, gas stations and drug stores
  2. The Citi TY Premier points roster seems a bit fitting from a travel perspective, giving 3x various travel modes, gas, etc, 2x on entertainment (which I can see really racking up there) and 1x on everthing else.  I'm on the fence on getting the Prestige over the Premier, as I cannot justify the $450 AF...yet.  I'm trying to forecast travel opportunities over the next 2-3 years between work and home to see if I can justify it.  As far the utilization of points accrued, I don't foresee that being an issue, as there are a number of ways that points can be used.  I'm struggling to understand why some have had challenges with the TY points process.

For now, I'm waiting for a couple of inquiries to drop off in early May, then I will app for these 2.  After that, I'm going to SD 2 older cards (Cap 1 QS and Chase Freedom, which I feel no longer meets my needs, but don't want to close and wind up disrupting my avg age of credit), and continue to garden until late 2018 / early 2019.
