I got a SP CLI on my Care Credit 2 days ago. I went from$1k to $3600 via chat. The new CL is reporting and no HP.

This is great to hear, and congrats on your CLI!  Smiley Very Happy

It seems that the most recent CLIs (the last couple of weeks) have mostly been SPs, so I'm hoping that's a trend that continues.  For people who are rebuilding it's very helpful to be able to get CLIs without taking a HP (I know from first hand experience from not that long ago...)

Re: Care Credit - Doing SP CLIs Now?

Went ahead and gave it a shot. It was a HP on TU and no increase. Currently at 7k with 0 balance. Last cli was in February and was also a HP on TU.

I'm sorry your CLI didn't work out.  Smiley Sad

Thanks for sharing the details of your request... obviously my thoughts about there being a recent policy change were false.

It's still interesting how it's a SP for some and a HP for others... hopefully we'll continue to get data points on this and will eventually be able to "break the code" (or at least get an idea of what drives the HP vs. SP).  Smiley Happy

Re: Care Credit - Doing SP CLIs Now?

I got a cli on my Care Credit a few weeks ago (opened in July with a measly $500 limit) but it was definitely a HP for me for the increase. Smiley Sad I called the automated system and input all my info hoping for a SP but it came back and gave me a number to write down and it wanted to transfer me to a CSR but I hung up hoping it wouldn't be a HP since I didn't finish the call. Logged on to my Care Credit account the next day and saw the increase (went from $500 to $2000). I didn't need another inquiry on my TU but I knew it could be a possibility. The most I've had to spend on the card is $400/$500 on vet visits so with a $2000 limit I'll stay under 30% util when before I was having to max out the card. I guess it was worth the HP in that sense but it kind of left me feeling like I should have asked for more. Oh well, lesson learned. No more asking for cli on Care Credit until some of my inquiries fall off.

Thanks for sharing with us.  I agree with you that even though you were hoping for a SP it did turn out quite well - going from $500 to $2k is nothing to sneeze at!  Smiley Happy

I also think that it's notable that while you didn't stick around to speak with the CSR the CLI went through anyway and you still got the HP.  That info might be valuable to others if they find themselves in the same situation.

Re: Care Credit - Doing SP CLIs Now?

Just had the DW try. She has a 5k CL , some use for a few hundred dollars here and there and currently zero balance.  She's had the card for almost 2 years.  When she finally got to a CSR after all the BS advertisements, she indicated that she would like to inquire about a CLI but would only accept it if it were a SP.  The CSR replied,"we would have to run a credit check"    My DW said no thank you.  Bummer.

NFCU Visa 43k | NFCU Platinum 37k | Cap1 QS 13K | Cap1 QS 12.5K | Barclay MC 25k | Delta Gold Amex 40K | Discover IT 22K | CFNA FS 3600 | CareCredit 20k| PayPal Credit 10k |

I probably would have done the same, since there's no way to know for sure.

The two times I've called credit solutions (for my other Synchrony cards) I was also told there would be a credit check - they place you on hold to do it - but was only a SP.   However, even credit solutions will surprise folks from time-to-time with a HP.  Smiley Frustrated

It seems like they would be able to state up front what kind of pull it will be, but I guess for some reason they are unable/unwilling to do so.

Re: Care Credit - Doing SP CLIs Now?

Got my CLI about 2 weeks ago via chat and. O mention of HP. I never did see HP on my CR. My scores just hit 660 (which is why I got the increases on my Walmart, Lowe's and JCP)

Re: Care Credit - Doing SP CLIs Now?

My SL was $2000 and my last CLI was last February and it was a HP. Bumped my limit to $4000. Called today to ask if it would be a HP or SP for CLI and the csr said he wasn't sure as sometimes it varies. I asked for a $10K limit and he came back and said my account was approved for $12k. I was pretty shocked as at this was already my highest limit card. I'll updated whether it was a hard pull in the next couple days.
