Hey, this is WAY too serious for subtle references here.   I must admit to some surprise though, I had assumed that people who disagree with me must be far too stupid to be able to post, so SOMEONE must be helping them.....   What's their game?

The Discover IT is only a 1% card in the first place though, just like CF is 1%, FU is 1.5%, Citi DC is 1% + 1%, etc. All cards have a base percentage and require you to activate the boost effect to earn higher percent. Unless they have default automatic rotating categories, i don't have any that are.

It's not bad business to have them set up that way, it's considered good business. Since they wouldn't be paying out anything for all those who forget to activate. If they wanted you to have maximum earning potential, then they would just have a base 5% card and cut out the BS. That would cost too much in revenuw loss considering he swipe fee isn't even that high!
