Chances at an Amex BCE?

Hi everyone, loving these forums already.  I figured that now that I'm almost 30 I should go ahead and develop some credit.  Just got my first non-store revolver last night lol.

Anyway, I've been an Amex Platinum AU for 12 years now, and am really interested in the BCE since that would have an age of account of 12 years the second I got it (that's what I understand anyway since it's based on the 'member since date').  I'd be open to alternatives though.

So here's where I stand:

EQ 661 TU 655
Income 51,000
No outstanding debt of any kind

Amex Platinum AU NPSL

GE Moneybank/ultimate electronics 1500CL Opened 7/2009
Capital One Classic Platinum  2000CL Opened last night

Total credit 3500 util 0%
AAoA is 5 years 8 months

Derogs:

Chargeoff paid in full for 519 dating back to 5/2012 but paid off last week.  Scores don't reflect that yet

3 lates for student loans 1-90 day, 2 60 days.  I'm pretty sure this should be only 2 since the 1 is the aggregate of the other two, smells fishy anyway.
1 60 day late for GE Moneybank.

I am working on GWing the GE charge and trying to figure out why one missed payment is hitting me 3x on student loans ( most I can possibly justify is 2x).  Bank already agreed to GW the charge off since I did pay in full and didn't settle.

So like I said, interested in the BCE for AAoA purposes but would consider anything with cashback at a similar rate.

Anyone have any idea whether I should take the hit for the app once my chargeoff disappears?

Welcome to the forum

IMHO

Wait and continue to work on the baddies.

While your doing that your scores should increase

Rght now I don't think Amex will give you a revolver perhaps a charge card...YMMV tho

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

+1, gotta agree here. Your doin great and if AMEX still offered the ZYNC card, id telll you to go for it, but for an AMEX Revolver, your scores and/or report arent where they need to be just yet. Your def on the right track tho

Starting Score: EQ 609, EX 633(Fako), TU 700
Current Score: EQ 699, EX 758, TU 733

Re: Chances at an Amex BCE?

Don't apply. They'll most likely deny you at this point. I'd wait until the baddies fall off and then pull your report (make sure all your FICOs are above 700) and then ap. good luck!

Re: Chances at an Amex BCE?

I would also agree on working on removing your baddies.

You should keep util between 1 - 9% and report balance on only one card for better scores.

I have to agree with the others. Wait, let your baddies fall off and then app.
