So, I opened up a Chase Sapphire Preferred card in February of this year. That means that the anniversary and the $95 annual fee is coming. In the past year, I am not sure if I have used the card enough to warrant the annual fee. However, I use the hell out of my Freedom card and I wouldn't mind having another Freedom card to get essentially a $3000 spending cap for the 5% cashback (instead of the $1500 cap with a single Freedom card).
I currently have a Chase Freedom Visa Signature card and my Chase Sapphire Preferred is a World MasterCard. I know that there have been rumors that Chase plans to change all MasterCards over to Visa but I have yet to hear anything official about my CSP changing. I even called Chase about that and they said that my account has no upcoming changes scheduled. If I could change my CSP to the Freedom I would definitely like to keep it as a MasterCard.
So my question is: Could I? If I so please, would I be able to convert my Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard to a Chase Freedom World MasterCard and have two Chase Freedom cards? Any input is appreciated.
I guess you could ask. If you look at some signatures it it looks that there are members that have Freedom MC and Freedom VI. What could be the problem is that Chase has stopped offering the Freedom MC. I would call or send them a SM and see what Chase will reply...Good luck![]()
I guess this subject is subjective........I applied for another Freedom and got a letter saying I already had one. But through Capital One I have 2 Quicksilver cards, so i guess your mileage may vary wether you apply for one or upgrade/downgrade. ![]()
Creditors, CSR's and situations can vary. I've heard that Chase isn't issuing MC's but don't have any anecdotal evidence to offer. OP should just ask.

Last I recall Chase was calmping on a "one product" family per individual, whereas in the past you could have multiple. You would need to check OP for the latest policies. It's doubtful they will PC to Freedom WMC since they are no longer offering the MC product, regardless if your current CSP is WMC.

Or even better, since most posts point to the MC CSP being a different product, you might want to apply for the Visa CSP and have another year without the AF and 40k bonus

IIRC, this one product policy came put a few months ago.
A little update, I called Chase (number on back of CSP card) and spoke with somebody who checked my options and said that he would only be able to convert to a regular Sapphire card without the annual fee and that it would be a Visa. He also gave me an option (not that it mattered) to convert to a Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa if I wanted to. I told him that I was more interested in keeping it a MasterCard and he told me that his only available options were Visa. It seems as though it's a definite that Chase has given the ax to MasterCard and is strictly focusing on Visa.
I did not make the conversion and politely thanked him for checking. He also informed me of when the annual fee will be charged so I have some time. I may try contacting the executive office. Maybe I'll have some luck?
