Sleigh17, you're not the only one. It was impossible for me back in the paper days, but with everything on line, it takes me maybe 15 minutes a day. NP, that's very impressive and productive organization! I will try to duplicate about 10% of it--that's about all that I'm likely to successfully pull off.

Thanks. I totally agree that w/ online it is not hard and doesn't take that long. That's what is so great about it and there are no excuses for me to not know what is going on.

A funny story- because I keep up w/ every single card and their rates- DH just grabbed a card out of the book- and at lunch when I checked online the accounts- I had to call him up and tell him/ ask him- why did he take that card cuz we have some new 0 percents-- and the one he picked as at 12 and he actually if he didn't know could have picked the one at 9 percent- it was funny so I had to get online and almost PIF so there would be interest only on about three dollars. I asked him before he made a purchase to call me and we would both make a decision about which card to use.

Guess the moral is I need to sit down w/ him and bring him up to speed w/ the status of the cards. We both review our financial goals every mo- but I have taken up the work on the cards so need to bring him up to speed.

Wish I could get DW to hold still long enough to bring her up to speed on all of this. When she needs to buy something, she just comes to me and tells me that she has to buy this or that and asks whether to use cash or a card, and if a card, which one? The problem is that she does not even care why, just which one. She gets bored with finances. LOL

Re: Change in Focus of this forum

I am a firm believer in take what you need and leave the rest.  Before I found FICO (and I was almost the only one on the board at the timeSmiley Very Happy) I had done a lot of research and visiteed many other credit card boards. Still do on occasion.  I heard of appo-ramas and arbitage (sp?) and the like.  The thing I took notice of was when I posted in some discussions about my approvals or my scores, I would often get a response 'How can someone with a BK with no AU get a card that wont approve me?', 'How can someone with a BK and no AU accounts have scores like that and mine are lower?'

Do you know what I learned from this?  Whatever the heck they were doing to their credit with all the apporamas and BTs etc, was doing more damage than the BK I had on file.  Think about that.  Someone who thinks they have 'good' credit having poorer scores than someone with the worst possible derog and not being able to be approved for the same cards that this person has.

Before you go on that apporama, just think about that. There is a wealth of information on this board. I think everyone here is intelligent enough to use it to their best advantage. there will always be those who onyl want the next card, one step away from financial disaster.

A long, long time ago when I first joined this forum there was a big focus on "controlling score and getting out of debt".  The focus seems to have shifted to "how can I get a double digit number of credit cards with crap scores, resulting in serious rather than fatal damage to my score?"

When I first came here I posted that there were seemingly 3 kinds of post. One poster is always trying to get around something or shed responsibility. A second poster is always trying to get more limit to buy more junk to secure more debt and the third poster is here to learn how to rebuild credibility and working hard to establish financial responsible. When I read the first two poster types I just smile and reflect back to an earlier time, then I move on. It’s the later/third posting type that gets my reads and my attention. I figure type one and type two will be back here in a couple years as a type 3 poster. Smiley Very Happy
