I did this with cap one. It is the same card only with rewards.
Could you tell me how this turned out? I'd like to get out of my Cap1 oldest card but I'm afraid I'll get the new card with only 3 years of history.
I started out with the 300 card, a/f and deposit. They gave me some clis (it was like pulling teeth to get them)
Then out of the blue they sent me a card with 3500 cl and no fees. They sent back my deposit and waived the a/f.
I then combined them using the older date and giving me one card.
I called for cli and didn't qualify but they said I was eligible for upgrade to rewards card.
I accepted and they just gave me the rewards on the same old card.
My cl is 5400.
This took from 2002 until 2007.
