So this is my issue, I dropped my phone(Nexus 5) and sent it in to LG for repairs and as i expected, they charged my closed to $160 to replace the screen and recondition the phone to refurbished one. I had no issues paying this money because I know i DROPPED the phone. So after everything they mailed the phone back to me, and because I have an extra phone I didn't use the phone for a day and when I finally did it worked for TWO DAYS and the screen started failing. Pressing it self and sometimes not responding. After properly looking at it I noticed a stright line on it with NO CRACK. Sent it back with anger because this phone is supposed to be fixed. I even sent them an email that i deserve to be compensated for not fixing my phone properly!
Took them 4 business days after receiving my phone to email me to let me know that I have to pay another $160 for my screen!!! I flipped when I got the email and called them and the person I talked to said the decision was reached by their techs. That he has a pictiure of my phone with shattered screen!!! I screamed! What do you mean shattered screen?? He said that repeatedly and I kept insisting that my phone was perfect when I sent it except for the hairline that is from the inside and not really noticeable except you look for it! Then later he said it was a mistake that the picture was prolly from the first time I sent it in.
He insisted the phone will not be fixed until i pay another $160. Now to my question, the first charge was on my chase credit card on the 12th of march. I am wondering if I can just tell them to send my phone back and I dispute this charge with chase.
If only I know I would have just fixed my phone through a road side tech and I wouldn't have any of this problems. LG as a company is a rip off! This is my 3rd phone from them and will be my LAST, even if I get this money back I will never do business with such company again!
Suggestions please
this sounds like a mess, you don't have insurance through your carrier?
I have never sent a phone for repair, I get replacements... is this pre-paid? or one of the newer companies these days that are not exactly pre-paid but are, you are paying full price for phone with no real insurance?
I would have the phone sent back to you and I would dispute the charge from the first time ONCE you get your phone back (take pictures of your phone now)
document and what not... I hate sending things in and then they give you prices and demand payment when its no longer in your hands and maybe in condition it was when it left you... to many things like this can go wrong.
They should file an insurance claim on the carrier who delivered the phone to you.... It was most likely damaged in transit.... I would call them and tell them to file an insurance claim on the phone, if they refuse then write a letter to the card issuer asking the charge be canceled...
This sounds like a mess. You could certainly initiate a dispute over the services rendered, but I'm not familiar enough with Chase to know they are in regards to these types of disputes.
On a non-credit note, you should escalate a complaint on this issue with LG and perhaps with the BBB, if they can't resolve this.
I bought the phone at full price... no insurance.... I have no problems paying for damages caused by me,.... I showed this the first time when they asked for $160 I didn't even ask question I just went ahead and paid. The problem is they didn't fix the phone right! Now they want me to pay another $160 for something they didn't do right thereby spending 320 on a phone that cost $400 brand new, hack NO!!! I was thinking I could file the dispute now while waiting for the phone to arrive. If they do not send it back because of the dispute I filed, that should be reason for a lawsuit right there for a full refund of what the fone costs right???
I have basically told them everything, the last call between us they basically hung up saying my phone will be return un-repaired because I am refusing to pay another $160

Im not talking about phone insurance I am speaking of insuring an item when its shipped with the carrier. UPS & FEDEX provide up to $100 insurance automatically on anything they transport, with the post office the sender needs to buy insurance, I am sure that a mfgr of this size insures their shipments so call them ask for claims department and tell them to file a delivery service claim as it was obviously damaged by the shipping carrier.....

I am not sure if they had insurance on the phone while it was shipped to me. I asked them about filling a claim they said the couldn't because I did not call them immediately I got the phone. That I complained about malfunctioning 2 days later. When i sent it back to them to check it, I put insurance on it. I wont want to file that because I am more than certain LG did not fix my phone properly. I have filed the dispute with chase, I will wait for the outcome... Hopefully they make the right decision because LG should not be making customers pay for one issue twice!
