So i read about the Chase 5/24 a while back. In November I got an Amazon Visa, then a United MileagePlus in December. I closed my United card and rolled it into my Amazon and applied for a new IHG card. That was in March. Got an instant approval so in fear that Chase would deny any more apps for the next 2 years, i applied for the Hyatt Visa -- also instant approval.
This put me at 4 Chase cards in 4 months, but overall i opened 14 new accounts in the last 2 years (cards only). My credit score finally moved from sub to prime so I was closing all my subprime cards and sought after prime ones -- about 80% were approved.
I did have a Chase checking for 5 years, but closed that back in 2015 when I was approved for their credit card. In April 2016, i decided to apply for the United MileagePlus Club card (04/16) -- was not an instant approval. I had to call in to verify identity and confirm it was me who applied. 04/29 it showed up online for $15,000 (Amazon $7.2k, Hyatt $5k, IHG $3k). I'm not sure if the 5/24 rules is more strict for those without a previous or existing Chase "relationship" -- but I've been pushing the borders with them and have still been in their good graces.
I wont be applying for any more cards now that I've pretty much set my line-up, but wanted to share that if you've been thinking about a Chase card due to the 5/24 rule, the cobranded cards dont seem fully enforced yet. DONT GET ME WRONG -- Chase denied my for a CSP and Freedom, but not the others...
Good luck if you're chasing Chase bank!!

Congrats on your approvals! The reason they denied you for the CSP and Freedom is because the 5/24 rule applies to CSP, Freedom, and Slate not cobranded cards such as Amazon and United (at least not yet).

Thanks! I def know about the CSP/Freedom, but had was told by chase bankers the cobranded ones are getting locked down too. theres stuff online about it, and started in march. But i see, if any, an increase in IHG, Hyatt, Marriott, Amazon, United and SW approvals than before. hopefully others might be able to take advantage and squeeze an app in, in case they were thinking of not because of the rumors about the rule.

Exactly. You can get as many as you want as long as not Freedom. Csp, Slate, Iffy on slate, The others are fair game. as long as you don't call lending. ![]()

Agreed. The business bankers (business cards were supposed to be included) are unaware of said upcoming restriction. I always thought this was a rumor gone amok. They confirmed that this was someone working people up (their words), as to instigate a lot of apps. These were the analysts and lending departments of Chase.
