If I signed up for the card without an AARP membership number, will chase help me generate a fresh aarp number? If not, can we still use this card at AARP accepting locations?
AARP # isn't required for applying.. There are 20 year olds with this card
Correct! Just leave the field blank when applying.
I know I can leave the membership number blank, but will Chase issue me a number once I get approved for the card?
No, I don't believe so... I don't have the card personally but know alot about it, with the exception of that.. The reason I say no is someone in their 20's can't qualify for AARP and they get the card without the AARP # since they aren't eligable.. Just seems to make sense to me.. It is different then say the marriott or ritz where they create you an account if you don't have one.

you have to age up to get the AARP membership benefits but even young whippersnappers can enjoy the benefits of this card........I love mine and the 3% dining and gas; when you eat at certain places there are even bigger discounts.....but you also are suppose to be an AARP member. I usually give'em my credit card and ask for the discount....but just in case they ask I have the AARP membership also.
You can join AARP at any age. I started getting their fliers at 25 years old. All you have to do is pay the membership fee.
That said, I'm not a member, and I have the AARP Chase card. It works nicely for me, outside of this quarter.

Has there been any instances where they accept your AARP Chase card, and still ask for your AARP membership card/number to get a discount?
Back whenever, i signed up for a 3 year membership to AARP in hopes of going for the Chase card only to find out that it wasn't even needed. Meh
Most places that give senior discounts, you have to ask for the senior discount. and then you have to be a certain age to qualify.
In other words, you have to prove your age, because different places require different ages. Could be 50+, could be 65+. My local metro busses give a senior discount at 65, and I could flash an AARP card all I want and that wouldn't get me anywhere...
Doesn't AARP membership mainly give you benefits FROM AARP.IE, they sell AARP health insurance, auto insurance, home insurance, etc. You could probably call your existing insurance agent and ask when the senior discount rates are, and who knows they might be just as good or better.
