Chase + AMEX approvals!

I'm 21 years old and graduating from college next May.  Before this week I had two credit cards: a Citi Forward ($1700 limit, opened 02/13) and a Discover IT ($1500 limit, opened 07/13).  I also have an almost three year old paid off car loan reporting on my CRs.  I make about $10,000 a year summers and part-time.

I'm going to be applying to PhD programs soon and paying all those darn application fees.  I thought I'd apply for another card so that when I suddenly put $1000 on my cards in late November/early December I won't have to get nearer than I'd like to my limits.  So last Wednesday I applied for a Chase Freedom Visa and was instantly approved for $1000!  Yay Chase!  Near the highest APR, but I don't carry balances.  If I spend $500 within the first 3 months, I get $100 bonus cash back (20% off the first 5 grad school applications, heh).

Today, I put my information into the cardmatch tool just to see what it would come up with for fun, and I got an offer for the AMEX BCE.  $150 rewards for spending $500 in the first 3 months (groceries and gas, I can do that) and the lowest APR, 12.99%.  Well... I figured if I was going to apply I should do it now before the Freedom starts reporting and pulls my AAoA below 1 year.  Worst thing that could happen is I get denied and waste a HP... I'm not apping for anything else soon, so it will have time to age.  Anyway, I did it and was instantly approved again!  I was totally expecting the 7-10 day wait message, so it was a pleasant surprise!  Don't know the limit yet though, but I'll be happy enough with pretty much whatever, considering my low income.

I'm not applying for anything new for probably at least a year now.

Congrats! If you do not plan on apping for a year, you may as well join us in the Garden!

Those are great CLs for your income level. The best part is that while your career grows, so will your cards. You are getting into Chase and Amex at the right time.

History of Science programs.  I'm interested in the Scientific Revolution and sort of the birth of empiricism in Europe given that the concept is so important in modern society.
