I was approved for Chase Amazon about a month or more ago, and yesterday was approved for Freedom. Both @ $2,000.
I also just applied for Slate as well because I was prequalified, but prob. too close to my Freedom app.
I want to call Chase and get it squared away but can't decide what to do. I would def. love a higher limit on the Chase card but I am telling you I have the WORST luck reconning limits, or reconning in general. So I am thinking of asking them to combine my Freedom & Amazon limits onto the Freedom card, but is it worth it?
Do you think the rewards/points. etc of the Freedom would as a whole be better than Amazon, if I *do* actually shop on Amazon (not a whole lot but somewhat often)? I'm a little confused on how this works.
I wonder if I ask them to close Amazon and put the $4000 on just the Freedom, then maybe they might then let me open the Slate card. Any input/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Don't app just because you are prequalified, app for stuff that is useful to you. So, do you need a balance transfer? If so, the slate is a good choice, but otherwise it isn't good, no rewards.
For shopping at Amazon, especially if you don't spend more than $15K a year, there are better choices than the Chase Amazon (easiest to get is the Barclays Sallie Mae, which gives 5% off the first $750 spent each month at bookstores including Amazon, as well as savings on gas and groceries). So moving the limit to the Freedom makes sense if you also at some point get the SM.
But if you are only a very occassional Amazon user, you probably don't need the Chase Amazon either! It is only 2% more than the Freedom when the Freedom doesn't have an Amazon category (and 2% less when it does!). I know people like this card, but it makes very little except for the very heavy Amazon user (who doesn't have Citi Forward!)

I actually do have a balance I can transfer, my PayPal smart connect. It's not maxed out but considering the difference in interest rate, it would be worth it in the end.
I would say I use Amazon maybe once every month or two months, if that.
so I just called Chase and they said I can definitely combine the limits, but as soon as my most recent payment on Amazon clears. So as soon as it clears I have to call back and they will put the total $4000 on the Chase Freedom.
It seems like a better idea altogether - I'd rather have a higher limit on a good card like Freedom with 0% interest for 15 months, plus all its rewards. Also less cards to manage and less individual payments if I end up with balances. I didn't mention the Slate yet though...maybe when I call back, but I don't know what to say.

Sounds like a plan...good luck.
