Chase Auto CLI Question

Hi,

Yesterday I received an Auto CLI on my Chase Sapphire Preffered.  I had since January 2013, was $5,000, then changed $7,500.  I then called them and decided to move the $2,500 to my Freedom due to that only having $500.  Anyways my question is did I ruin my chances at an Auto CLI for my Freedom?  I have had the Freedom since April and wanted a CLI on that a lot, but was going to do a hard pull after 6 months of having it.  Basically my goal right now is to have 10K on all my cards.   I have only had the AMEX BCE since May and already got that to $10,000 with the 61 day CLI.

Anyways do not mind going for a hard pull, but when should I target a hard pull and how much should I ask for?

To sum up...

Chase Sapphire Preffered - Jan 2013 - Initial CL $5,000, Auto CLI to $7,500, Moved $2,500 to Freedom in Sept - Currently $5,000

Chase Freedom - April 2013 - Initial CL $500, Moved $2,500 from CSP in Sept, Currently $3,000

Amex BCE - May 2014 - Initial CL $4,300, 61 day CLI to $10,000 in July, Currently $10,000

MY WALLET: Chase Sapphire Preferred $12,500, Chase Freedom $12,500, Chase Ink Bold NPSL, Amex Blue Cash Everyday $25,000, Bank Americard Cash Rewards $17,500, Discover It $9,000

Re: Chase Auto CLI Question

By my interpretation I would say you are unlikely to see an auto CLI on that card, as effectively you've done a requested increase and they will want to see how you go with your new credit limit. Heavy usage and the competing cards might help with that, especially given the auto CLI you got on the CSP. I would say you are looking at 3-6 months before an auto CLI though.

In terms of a hard pull, I would wait 3-6 months til you hit the year old account mark and put plenty through it in that time, and then make a hard request along the lines of - wanting signature and to use the freedom more for rewards - need a limit like 5-7k, but finding the credit limit confining in comparison to my other cards. YMMV though, and I am not sure how chase views CLI windows when you move credit lines around like that.

Re: Chase Auto CLI Question

This may be a YEMV situation.  I shifted a CL portion from my Freedom Visa Sig to CSP earlier in the year to accomodate higher spend on CSP and it didn't prevent the CSP from getting an auto-CLI a few months back.  That being said, I was putting a lot of usage on CSP (and PIF) but needed the extra room for travel expenses and whatnot.

Re: Chase Auto CLI Question

That is good to know.  I was putting a lot on the Freedom every month, charge up to close to $500, PIF, maybe once or twice a month.
