Chase Auto-CLI Questions

So I've had my Freedom for almost 4 months now, and I know Chase sometimes gives some auto-CLIs around the 3-6 month range. I would really like an auto-CLI, but I do have some questions about it.

1) How heavily should I be using the card in order to get the CLI? Or does it have any effect whatsoever?

2) Are you guaranteed a CLI (if you pay the statement and such) or is it random?

I'm hoping for the auto because I don't want another HP right now. Smiley Tongue

Good question from all the posting Chase like heavy usage and sorry but no guaranteed a CLI from any lender

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Well, I don't think any CLI is guaranteed.  I've had my Freedom for well over a year and haven't received any CLI.  Meanwhile, I've gotten other cards since then, including from Chase.  I know some people do get Auto-CLI from Chase, but I don't think they're anywhere near as likely to do it as other banks are.

Re: Chase Auto-CLI Questions

Aww, I'm a bit bummed about that. Silly me thought as long as I used the card and paid my bills on time, Chase would show me some love. Smiley Very Happy

I'm not in dire need for a CLI, so if I don't get one, it's fine. I'll just wait until I apply for the CSP later down the road and see if they can increase it then.

Thanks for the information! Smiley Happy

We are glad to help and hopefully you'll get that auto CLI

Re: Chase Auto-CLI Questions

Yes have received many Chase auto CLI over the years, but only one this year. Just remember Chase likes to see other cards with a minimum $5k credit limits before they approve a CSP, of course with anything YMMV.

Re: Chase Auto-CLI Questions

Just to throw in some more info...I got my Chase Amazon and Freedom cards both around the same time last year (Sept 9-15, 2012).  Both cards have had heavy usage and PIF and both have carried balance from time to time.  Freedom - zero Auto-CLI.  Stuck at 1.5k.  Amazon - started at 1.2k (or something like that) and have had multiple auto-cli.  Current CL is 2.5k.

Re: Chase Auto-CLI Questions

My DH was approved for his Freedom in January of this year with a starting limit of $4,000.  He used the card just once, in February, for a tire purchase around $700.  Since the card had 0% APR on purchases for 15 months, he just made monthly $100 payments.  In June, Chase gave him an auto-CLI of $2,300 for a new limit of $6300.  There appears to be no rhyme or reason to Chase's luv - he only used the card once and revolved a balance instead of PIF, and yet they gave him auto-luv. Re: Chase Auto-CLI Questions

I think it depends on usage.  I have three Chase cards; CSP, Marriott Premier, and Freedom.  CSP is seven months old and Marriott is 6 months old.  I got a 5k CLI to 10k on the CSP after 5 months.  I charged avg of 1500 per month and PIF every time.  On the Marriott, no CLI yet, but I only spent 2k on it the last 6 months.  So from my experience, it looks like Chase does like heavy usage.  YMMV.

Re: Chase Auto-CLI Questions

I guess it's a good thing that there isn't any rhyme or reason. Wouldn't it be bad if we found out how their formulas work? I guess its good that it's strong...

But anyways, I'm trying to get a CLI with my Freedom too. Have only gotten one on my Amazon a while back after heavy usage.

Can anybody comment on whether a bank account with Chase will facilitate more auto CLI's? Like are they more likely to give CLI's if you have a checking, CD or some type of savings with them?
