Chase Balance Transfer Question

I received balance transfer checks from Chase for my freedom (haen't used it since my last no fee balance transfer) 0% APR for a year and the fee is 2%. I was planning on using the checks to cash to deposit into my bank. How is the balance fee calculatred? Is it put on the total? Do I pay (or they debit me) upfront? Any chance they'll lower the fee?

Thanks for all the help and inputs!

Re: Chase Balance Transfer Question

The fee is based on the amount you transfer. If you use a $1000 BT you will be charged a 2% fee. When it processes you will have a balance of $1020 on the card.

2% is already lower than what I normally see so I wouldn't count on a reduction on that.

Another note. If your CL is $1K, then you will only be able to BT $980. The BT and fee together cannot exceed your CL.
