Thanks I'll go in and ask. If they seem confident I might let them try. I just got my new car so I'm no longer worried about HPs. I'd just like to replace my 2 credit one cards with something decent. My Quicksilver was recently auto increased to 6k and Its now reporting hope that might help as well.
I also have a CD with Chase.

Today I did it and it said I was pre-qualified for the Slate. Is that an indication I might be off the radar? I have over the five accounts in the last two years counting an auto loan.
How much were the CO's? Although Chase pre-equals are solid, there have been cases of denials.
One was for 6K the other was for 4K. Old Providian card and an IHG card each just fell off my reports
I guess I can also go into the branch and ask a teller or a person at one of the desks? Not sure if they would know much though?
I doubt a teller or branch person would be able to help very much with something like this.
I've actually wondered the same thing, since I am in a similar situation (old Providian account, converted to WaMu, then converted to Chase just as it was going through the CO... also no longer on my credit reports).
Like you, throughout the summer I was also showing up as pre-qualified for Slate and Freedom, but I never 'pulled the trigger'. I didn't want to waste a HP just to find out I was blacklisted anyway. (Sidenote: I'm no longer showing as pre-qualified, but I suspect it's because I have too many new accounts for their tastes...)
A branch can look up and see if you are pre-qual and pre approved for a card product.
Chase does have a long memory but there have been people that have been approved that have had a Chase CO in the past. It all depends on the amount of the CO and credit profile (payment history and utilization.) A banking relationship helps too.

Someone had mention that they had a large Chase CO from 2007 and they applied for a Chase Card. They were denied and given several reasons but they did not mention the old Chase card as one of the reasons. So Im wondering if its in their system still.
Went into the branch and talked to someone at their desk about my situation and was honest about my two prior defaults several years ago and no longer being on my credit. She didn't really have any new info that I haven't read for everyone here. She did pull up my account and it said I was preapproved for the Slate (as it does when I do it here at home) and recommended for the United card with a 95AF.
I didn't want to get declined in front of her, so I came home and did the prequalified site again and the Slate came back up and I went ahead and applied. I guess I got Denied because it says I will know their decision in two weeks.

You can call Chase recon to find out sooner. Be prepared to answer any question regarding your credit, job, id verification, etc. They could bring up the prior CO and you should prepared to answer that question.
To find the Chase recon number do a search for "backdoor numbers"
I'll try and ride it out I guess until I get something in the mail. Is the application status line different from the backdoor number?
I thought two weeks is good?
I was approved for a Chase card with a paid Chase C/O from 2009 which is still reporting (through 3/2016). Read details from my MyFico post HERE
