Chase Bonvoy Bold likely getting gutted.

if you look they are changing benefits on 7/11/24

New Enhancements Coming Soon

On 7/11/2024, Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit cardmembers will no longer receive the following benefits with their card: Earn 2X points per $1 spent on other travel purchases; Receive 15 Elite Night Credits per calendar year, qualifying you for Silver Elite status.

Im guessing it gets the Chase standard of 2x for Gas and Local Transit and Commuting like the rest of the no annual fee cards.

I also assume it goes down to 7 elite nights at max.

I'll assume if it is not getting the 15 nights, it will get 0 going forward.  I'm hoping they don't end up passing that along to the Amex business card as well, since they are about on the same tier.  I'm about to hit lifetime Platinum with Marriott and since I was a latecomer to Starwood/Marriott, I missed the window for lifetime Titanium.  Titanium has been almost a stretch the past couple of years (I was only 76 nights last year and looks like I will only make 78 this year), and those extra 15 nights certainly help since I am 100% leisure travel.  At least with the Chase card there are still some upgrade options that would earn elite night credits, albeit with higher annual fees.

it seems like chase is on a gutting spree, since they also killed Priority Pass Restaurants on all their cards. At least the CSR, JPM Reserve, and the Ritz card.

Unfortunately, the days of great rewards might be falling away.

The're not the only ones. Amex is "enhancing" cards with higher AFs and stripping benefits.

Scores: March 21 FICO 8: EX 810, TU 808, EQ 813
AoOA: closed: 40 years, open: 30 years; AAoA: 14 years
Amex Gold, Amex Blue, Amex ED, Amex Delta Blue, Amex Hilton Surpass, BoA Platinum Plus, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Amazon, Chase CSP, Chase United Explorer, Citi AA, Sync Lowes, total CL 203k

Looks like it's going to 5 elite nights based on some sources.

Even worse than originally predicted. Down to 5 elite nights. It's a bummer for those like DW that only have the card for elite nights. Disappointing.

That is disappointing, but if DW is staying enough for elite night credits to matter wouldn't one of the higher tier cards with more elite nights make more sense anyway with the free night each year?  The only scenario I can think of where that wouldn't make sense is if it was all 100% reimbursed business travel but just short of the next elite tier each year, but under no circumstances would she ever actually pay for a single night each year out of pocket for personal use.
