Chase CC Fraud

Got an automated call from Chase today.

Apparently, "I" made a $350 donation to a political campaign this morning, and the transaction was denied. They wanted me to verify if it was legitimate or not.

I called them back, and they said it was a donation for " Friends of Ted Cruz" or something to that efffect.  OH HELL NO, complete fraud.

They wanted to know if I still had my card- yes. They wanted to know if they chip was still there- yep. No idea how this happened. So they cancelled my card, and are sending me a new one.

This is just a PSA- look at your statement for political contributions-  you may be surpised who you're contributing to.. lol..

Re: Chase CC Fraud

It's ok.  The last time you were at a restaurant your waiter simply removed your chip and has since used it.  You have a sticker in place now.

Re: Chase CC Fraud

I'm not sure if it's a legitimate organization or not..

Either way, there's no way in hell I'd ever contribute anything to his campaign. You know, cause I'm from NY and have "NY Values"

Re: Chase CC Fraud

Well, there may be a tendency for these scammers to run a smal test transaction and measure the viability of the card. It could be a ruse by someone who otherwise would support another candidate, by creating negative press for the competitor candidate.  All kinds of possibilities we won't fully understand, but a good example of the fraud monitoring, and the reasons to set up your communication options so the bank can ask these types of verification questions.
