@jojo79 wrote:@Janneman - I'm not sure if your call triggered that letter but it's not just you. Several of us received it as well (myself included).

Just call and say you're responding to the notice, and would like to keep your current limit.
Good luck!
Thanks Jojo...very much appreciated all your help....

Thank you. As for you having placed your cards for recurring charges then I am sure it works just fine for you and others, but I believe my situation has been different than others (like everyone's situation is different). How? Then I have more than 45 cards and more half million dollars total available credit...So obviously, I need to show love to all of them especially a few of them (business and personal cards) which I obtained last year and in 2021 in order to earn SUB...Further, I have been with Chase for 7-8 years, and I have never seen Chase caring much about usage of accounts...at least in my case....So, I let it sleep Chase accounts...
To be honest to you, I am still not sure what is the real factor/reason I received this notice of CLD....Is it that Chase has decided to send to every customer of Freedom card who have not met certain threshold of spending in 3-6-12 months, or is it triggered by the rep whom I lectured to? I did use the card last time on this January...just two months ago, but only for less than $20...But then I am having the same spending pattern on Sapphire card as well, wherein I have not received such notice so far...thanks God...Thus, don't know what Chase is up to...Time is so bad right now...We don't know what could happen....
ahhh! That makes total sense given the card line up you have. It's much more manageable with my 8 cards at the moment. I can totally understand why it wouldn't be feasible in your case.
I do wonder what triggered their algorithm but as you know, it's all profile dependent. In my case, when I was recently able to get a cli on my Chase cards, they gave my CFU the biggest increase of the 2 cards( vs CSR). I've put more spend on the CSR than CFU but I also got my CFU through a green check preapproval last summer and it has the favorable APR of the two. Not sure if that means anything but just makes me wonder about how the cards are coded when approved. But then again, I did put decent spend on it over the holidays as well.
Well, I'm really happy you got it resolved more than anything 😊
@Janneman wrote:They never gave me any CLI since this account was opened almost 7-8 yrs ago despite of good spending at that time...and now decided to do CLD !!!... Thats how they are appreciating me for being such a good customer for all these years...I understand that its all about the business and its because of me not using the card lately in last 2 yrs but decreasing my credit limit from $25k to $2k is not fair and not right at all....
I am not sure how you consider yourself a "good customer" if you have have cards on which you spend $10 - $20 every few months. You probably cost them more in administrative and compliance costs then you bring them in revenue.
It is certainly a drag that it happened and I hope you succeed in getting it back but you need to understand that with that spending pattern, it should not be a surprise.
In my humble opinion, I think it is wise not to seek CLI with any credit cards we don't intend to use very much. I understand the desire for high CL, for any reasons ranging from "just in case of emergency high spending" to simple credit utilization padding. But in the views of the creditors, that may give them an excuse to take AA on us, which can become as drastic as CLD, credit chasing, or even outright closure. I have learned this lesson the hard way myself, having experienced 2 account closures, and 1 CLD from 15K to 5K via Capital1.
It is my belief that I think it is safer to have reasonably "low" CL on any of these so-called "SD" cards that we will put occasional small purchases, just to keep the account open for its history and a tiny boost in utilization padding. I think that limits the danger of any AA significantly. For me personally, any CL in the range between 2K and 5K should be more than enough, considering that some type of credit cards like Visa Signature/Infinite or World(Elite) Mastercard brands have set minimum CL.
The only time I will be nervous about low CL is with any cards to be used for long-term BT. In those cases, we are more likely to start with high balance on the account, which drastically increases the utilization ratio on that card; therefore, high CL would be much preferred in those cases.

So in a nutshell, I am in serious trouble!!
CLI's on cards I have not used -> Guilty in the first degree!!!

Thanks OP for posting, I have decided to no longer poke the Big Bad Chase Bear.
So now we have Chase Bear.... I thought Synchrony was the only one.
I am holding off on applying for additional Chase cards. My CSP, I believe, has too much CL for my own use.... not that I am complaining, but I want to stay reasonable. If I really want a high CL on a card, that would be on BT cards. For rewards card with no BT and high interest rate, it matters very little to me. But, it is still great to see big numbers on CL, regardless.
Everyone is looking up to you. We all expect you to practice good credit behaviors. Do NOT disappoint us! j/k.
