Chase Cards

I'm not quite "up to speed" on protocols/time frames for apping their cards/cobranded cards, especially since their reported changes.

I've had a Slate card for 4 months, approved for UMPExplorer 2 weeks ago & AARP last week.

I could use a good hotel card for a trip in August and would appreciate some guidance and suggestions

Re: Chase Cards

The new rules should, to my knowledge, only apply to Slate, CSP, Freedom, and their business CCs. All other cobranded cards should not fall under the new policy.

wow, then it doesn't seem like a big deal.  you have to be some sort of credit addict (which many people on this site seem to be) to get restricted by having more than 5 non-cobranded cars in the last 2 years.

It isn't that the 5 cards are non-cobranded cards.

It is that the 5 cards in 2 years policy doesn't apply to the cobranded Chase cards.

If you had 5 cobranded cards (or non-cobranded) and applied for the freedom- denied.

If you had 5 cobranded cards (or non-cobranded) and applied for the Amazon- possibly approved.

Re: Chase Cards

Go For IHG - All my research suggests this is the best approval odds and highest limit....

As it was stated, the big deal is that if you opened 5 accounts within a 2 year period, whether those accounts were with Chase or not, and then applied to a non cobranded card with Chase, you'll be denied regardless of income, score, etc.

Re: Chase Cards

I've opened all but two of the cards in my siggy in the last two years and was denied for every card by chase, including business cards, and including United, until this IHG approval.

I'm telling you, if you're going to try, my personal opinion is to go for IHG...

I agree. I'd look into the IHG card and see if it's a good fit. I was recently approved for it, and I can say that I surely wasn't subjected to any reported policy changes. No way in hell would Chase have approved my application if the new accounts rule applied in my case with the IHG card.

I got all 3 of my non-cobranded Chase cards well before any underwriting changes occurred, so I can't provide any up-to-date feedback on those.

Re: Chase Cards

I got my IHG with a $12k limit within the past 2 weeks.

Re: Chase Cards

OK, Thanks.

The IHG might be a good fit but, doesn't Chase have a policy of 2 apps, not to mention approvals, within 30 days? I was instantly denied Mariott back in Jan/Feb.

I might be better served using Venture/V1 for hotels
