So I had totally planned on hopping on here later today to see if anyone had gotten any unusual alerts/notifications lately. Not from Chase, but from mobile wallets or CRA's.
End of last week I got a notification from Samsung Pay that my CFU had been updated. Checked the app, checked my account - nothing appeared different, nothing unusual. Yesterday get an alert from EQ that there's been a change in regards to my CFU. Again, nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary or different.
All became clear a short while ago when I get an email from Chase saying that my CFU is being upgraded to Visa Signature! Wasn't aware that they did that with the Unlimited. Checked EQ again and see that it is now listed as a "Flexible Spending Credit Card" instead of just "Credit Card".
Not sure what prompted the change. Limit has always been the same, $5.7k, since approval in '15 (Slate back then). When I got the EQ alert I thought that I had somehow screwed something up by my last statement on the card closing with a "negative" balance on 10/4. Refund I had been waiting on decided to post just before statement cut but I had already PIF. Know it shouldn't matter but I always seem to be one of the "lucky" ones. It's been getting a little more spend lately after hitting my CSP SUB about a month ago.
Not exactly going to change my life as all 3 Visa's I have are now VS, just didn't know that a "CFUVS" was a thing.
On a side note, I now feel like Chase is watching me for some reason, good or bad. Making me a little hesitant to go for the JetBlue Plus in a few weeks.....
Essentially, any Visa with a credit limit of 5K or more is, or can be, a Visa Signature- or from there above a Signature is a Visa Infinite, which has more perks.
Any portion of your account changes you'll get an alert like that even if it's something minor like what you described. The Electronic Wallet is picking up the CVV change due to the new card being issued. They don't typically reissue cards for a VS upgrade midcycle between expiration dates.... you mentioned it's 3 years old which means it's coming up for a renewal soon anyway. Banks are funny about it but, this probably more due to them wanting to collect more swipe fees under the VS classification.

FWIW the PC from Slate to FU was back at the beginning of this year. Still the same account from '15. Current physical card good for another 4+ years but the Chase email says I'll receive a new one by December.
hmm... sounds like they're doing a semi-annual review and batch upgrades then. VS just means they charge the merchant more for the swipe though. Most of us don't really use the perks unless something goes wrong or you're into avidly using them.
Maybe they're making all FUs Visa Signatures now, or at least the ones over $5K CL.
My CFU is a VS, but I got it end of July. Perhaps if older ones weren't, they're changing them over now.
My F.U has an $11,200 CL - but is not a Signature, It's ok, I have others if I need Sig benefits
