Re: Fairmont Visa PRODUCT CHANGING to Chase Sapphire Preferred

I do not understand the negativity about the change.  CSP is a Chase Brand card.  You can product change it to Freedom or Freedom Unlimited.

Now you get two bonus nights at Fairmont hotels.  And you get the FREEDOM to change to Chase branded CC.  What is the wonderful world!!

Re: Fairmont Visa PRODUCT CHANGING to Chase Sapphire Preferred

One question.

Since I do not have CSP and have never applied, I'd certainly lose the 50k sign-on bonus if thie is converted to CSP.  I probably would try to change it to Freedom or FU and try to keep the bonus option open.

Let me know if anyone has tried this or have contacted Chase about product change.  I know this is still early.

I called Execuetive line and after much debate between rep and someone else it was decided that if they requested me a new card now that the system would auto send me a CSP card and convert everything now. I doubt this will happen considering that would involve the point structure changing before the date promised in the letter. I will update when I get the card on Tuesday. I for one am happy about the change. Will be interesting to see if they charge the AF in November which is when I first got the Fairmont card, or if they will wait until next August? Smiley Surprised

Re: Fairmont Visa PRODUCT CHANGING to Chase Sapphire Preferred

Called Chase today about the change.  The change is taking place on 8/15.  Chase will only do any product change (Freedom, FU etc.) after cardholders receive the new CSP card.

This is considered a card migration, no sign-on bonus of any kind.  The card annual fee is considered paid on 2/28/2017.  The CSP annual fee could be charged on 2/28/2018.

Yep, this is how card migrations work.  I just went through a card migration at PenFed.  They closed my 25 year old Mastercard, now discontinued, and sent me a Platinum Rewards Visa that I didn't want.  I called them up and told them to just cancel the account.

Daily Carry: PenFed Power Cash • NFCU Flagship • NFCU More Rewards • Chase Freedom
Sock Drawer: PenFed Promise • NFCU cashRewards • Chase Sapphire Preferred • Chase Freedom Unlimited • United Explorer • UNFCU Azure
