So Q2 2017's 5% categories on the Chase Freedom are grocery and drug stores. I went to pick up a couple of prescriptions from the CVS at Target today and found out that apparently brand drugstores based at wholesale clubs, superstores and grocery stores DON'T COUNT!!! What the heck? This was a valid CVS. Not pleased! Other Freedom holders beware! Has anyone else been burned by this? I use my AMEX BCP for groceries so am disappointed by this quarter
Not sure if you read the fine print of the drug store category, it eludes to pharmacies inside stores are not included.
"Does not include merchants that sell a wide variety of goods including prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines, supplements and various health-related items, and which may contain an on-site pharmacy, for example, warehouse clubs, discount stores, or grocery stores. For more information, please see Chase Freedom Frequently Asked Questions."
and I do believe Target is considered a discount store.

LOL, it's pretty funny that Target is considered a discount store. I did eventually find the fine print, but it still wasn't very intuitive. If the drugstore transaction had shown up as a CVS purchase vs. Target, I am betting I would have received the points. Lessons learned, just peeved I dropped $200 on this card when I could have gotten 2.25% return on my Chase FU or BOA card.
totally hear you on that...we use the CVS inside of Targets too...

How do you get 2.25% return on the Chase FU Card as I have one and it is 1.5%? Don't understand?
Got it now, there was a step in this I missed. Thanks Irish80!

I assume because the poster also has the CSR, they are referring to the 1.5 bonus for travel redemption for UR points, so 1.5 X 1.5 = 2.25

You are correct Irish80! I love this pairing

Ok, but let's not forget that even with the lowly Plain Old Freedom, paired with CSR, you got 1.5% so not exactly nothing.
If you fill a prescription at a CVS will you get the 5x award?
