So after my Amex Delta approval I was chomping at the bit to enter more prime territory and applied fo Chase Freedom. My scores are about 700 across the board, if you believe Barlcays, Walmart, and Capital One.
Applied, got the 7-10 message, called automated line but just had the futher review message. After a couple of days I called backdoor number. Rep said I had a BK - Yep, filed 9/2005, so that will fall off in a year. he also said I had high limits on my cards. He named 4 cards and said balance was too close to limit - yes and no. not all cards updated to reflect zero balance and really they total 11% utiization. I explained that BK was 9 years ago and he was like oh we go by discharge date??? I explained that my limits were just increased on the cards he mention or I had paid them off and he was like, What's your point?
Did I jump the gun by applying too soon with Chase? Worth it to call back and speak to someone else?
I was just really excited getting my Amex card and Citi, who wouldn't touch me early BK upped by BB card limit from 750 to 2000.

I'm by no means well seasoned with Chase but if it's of any use, i was just approved via their online prequalify site after many months of no shows, and at Recon they specifically were satisfied with ONLY the cards i have 1 Year History with since i really only got started in all this last year. They quizzed me on their Limits and how long i had them (of course they already knew Lol), i did too
They double pulled EX & TU for me.
Maybe try back with Recon when you feel the time is right? They seem very receptive n helpful but depends on the analyst you happen to get i think. Best of luck but you did pull in some nice cards with Citi & Amex.
First of all, you are doing well with Amex and Citi. Why you would be denied by Chase having top tier cards like Amex makes no sense. I was denied by Barclay's this week for the opposite reason. Barc says they want higher Util and spending towards the TL. Watch the recon, ask up front if they will do more Hard Pulls. Barclay's snuck one on me . If you do recon more than one day after the first denial, they will do another hard pull.

I was denied twice (April & June) - the second time I recon'd & was denied again (luckily a SP)... I am new to all this and thought well I better wait... Just applied again this week & was finally approved... It may not be with the best CL or APR, but still approved... I can't say whether or not if I waited any longer that my approval may have been any better - who knows?!? If I had waited any longer, perhaps I may have been denied once again - CC issuers (well I can only speak of Chase in my experience, the rest have been great!!!) seem to be fickle here & there,,,!?! Keep your chin up, remain positive, & GOOD LUCK!!! ![]()

+1 once again!!! You got some ammo (CC wise - I have no idea what the rest of your credit or stats are)... Maybe you should let them land on your CR, put some activity on them, and then try again (if you have room for another HP)... I am not a pro in all this but what I have done had seem to work... Again, GOOD LUCK!!!
Did you try calling again and speaking to somebody else?
I would find it difficult to accept being denied with 700s across the board and like someone else mentioned, top tier cards like AMEX and Citi in good standing.

Chase is no less "top tier" than the others, and the Citi card is a store card, coming from a different part of Citi that Chase may more or less ignore. Certainly worth reconning, but each issuer has its own criteria. But barring issues with the CR, I agree the scores should be OK for the Freedom, as this is their entry-level UR card.
Thanks everyone. Good to know about recon adding more inquiries.

Chase is sensitive about payment patterns and utilization ratio when they see a BK on your CR. I dont think the Analyst understood your explanation of your utilization ratio. I would call again.
