Chase Freedom Mastercard Reporting Issues

Hey, sorry to repeat, all, but this was not getting reads or replies on the 8th page of an old thread. My comments are below the reference.

{
I carry a Chase Freedom World Mastercard (set to earn points rather than cash
back), which is just the MC equivalent of what you have. On my reports, Chase is
reporting the Highest Past Balance but not the credit limit. Because World and
Signature cards register on report tradelines as "Open" accounts (no preset
spending limit), issuing banks generally do not report a credit limit. However,
Chase still limits the amounts one can revolve (called a 'credit access line').
The credit access line acts just like the normal credit limit with one exception -
no exceeded limit fees.

It is this credit access line amount that I am trying to get Chase to report to the
bureaus in an attempt to maximize the FICO points earned from the credit
utilization ratio. I basically ran the card right up to its limit in month 2 with a
balance transfer option and then fed that money straight back to Chase in order to
make the Highest Past Balance work for me. My utilization ratio and credit score
remained unchanged, so I suspect one has to get an actual "credit limit" reported
to affect the utilization.

As mentioned above, both a World MC and Visa Signature have registered as "Open
Account" on my reports. I've never seen the "Other/CFL" terminology. Hope that
helps.

Hey, this last post describes my information perfectly. My question is, if I call up Chase and say, "hey, you're reporting as open and also have no Credit limit on my FICO scores, so, you're killing me!", what will they do? Can I keep my card as-is and request that they report the CL? Will they change anything?

Basically, I don't want a card that hurts my Util by having any balance on it without helping my Util by reporting a CL, and I'd like to know what I'm doing before I call them up.

Please let me know the best way to go about making this happen, without giving up too much of the card features.

Thank you!

Call Chase and request that they report the CL. Some of those Signature cards don't report a CL though.  That may be one of them.

I was thinking of switching to them and they told me they won't report the CL as it is not a CL, it is an access line of credit.

It shouldn't report as a CC, should it?

Well, that may be the case, and that may work well for you, but if I would prefer they report, do you think that would be a problem?

Re: Chase Freedom Mastercard Reporting Issues

You might want to do a "search," and examine some of Dawn's posts regarding this card.  She, like many others, had no success in getting her Chase Freedom World card to a report credit line accurately.

From what I've read on these forums, most Chase Freedom World/Signature cardholders that want their cards to report credit lines have done product changes to the "platinum," or non-Signature/World versions of this card.
