I just PC'd from the basic Chase card (formally WAMU) to the Chase Freedom. I've read through some past posts that the rewards program is limited when PCing from another Chase card as apposed to applying directly for the Freedom. Anyone have any recent experience?
Chase Freedom has among the best reward programs: you'll get 1% on all transactions (for comparison, Discover only gives 0.25% on transactions until you reach $3000 in a year) and 5% in categories that rotate. Plus, if you have a Chase checking account, you'll get a bonus of 10pts per transaction + 10% bonus points per dollar on all transactions. I think you'll enjoy how quickly you rack up with your new card's rewards!

I love the rewards program. It's a perfect fit for my lifestyle. I just hope its not limited for me sense I product changed to it. Past posts have mentioned that they were unable to take advantage of some of the rewards offered. For example here is a post from from March 2010:

FWIW, it seems to be people who have PC'd (or gotten PC'd) from another product who have problems. Former WaMu, former Borders, now former Starbucks Duetto.
Those who app'd directly for the Freedom in the past still have one or another version of the good rewards, I think.
Your best bet would be to look for posts by those who app'd (and got) the Freedom first time out. Maybe they're still getting the 3% or 5% or whatever it is that I don't get.
OTOH, all banks seem to be cutting back their rewards, at least by a little, and it might be that all Freedom cardholders will soon be asked to be thrilled with 1%.

You should get the same reward program as someone who applied, however you may not be eligible for the signup bonus points. If you had applied for it as a new card, after x months of spending a certain amount you get a chunk of bonus points that equates to a couple hundred of cashback.

Thats what I was hoping for.
Ohh sorry I thought you were referring to the rewards program. You'll probably miss out on the signup bonus, but try calling or sending a secured message online. There are stories on here of people having success receiving bonuses by sending a message.

They increased the award right after I got mine, and I asked them to give me the new promo, and they did.
You won't get the sign up bonus, that' incentive for new customers to apply. I did the same thing though, PC'd from an old WAMU card. Never thought that junk card would ever turn into something decent.
You'll probably get the full bonus (5%/1%) but you can always call to find out for sure.
