Chase Freedom Sig Visa Converted to CSP

Hey Guys,

Looking to convert my Chase Freedom Visa Signature to the CSP.  Anyone know whether or not a HP is done, or anything to that extent?

Anyone else who has done this, would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Are you just trying to avoid the HP? Just curious why you wouldn't want to get the sign-up bonus.

Re: Chase Freedom Sig Visa Converted to CSP

Usually Chase PCs don't involve a HP. Not sure if you can convert a cash back card to a points card, but I strongly urge you not to try. The CSP has a nice sign-up bonus and a waived first year AF. It is one of those cards you get more benefit from if you apply for it instead of a PC due to the nice sign-up bonus.

You are missing out on signup bonus , which is an pretty big deal imo. If I were in your position i would just apply for CSP, get signup bonus and transfer your freedom's UR points to CSP for tranfer to airlines or hyatt

Trying to avoid the HP Smiley Happy

I'd love get the sign up bonus ... Anyone with success tranferring and when doing so, referencing the sign up bonus and you explain to CS that you are just trying to save a headache for everyone involved?  LOL

If you want the CSP, I would suggest keeping it paired with the Freedom as the 5% categories is an easy rewards accelerator and costs you nothing to keep it open.

Take the hit for the new account and the signup bonus and then use both to your advantage.  I don't know any lender that gives bonuses for product changing... would defeat the purpose.

+1 on all the talk about the value of the UR points that you would obtain *only* by cold apping.  As an example, I was recently going to take a trip from Memphis, TN to Whitefish, MT on Amtrak in a Superliner Roomette.  With 2 adults, the charge was a little over $1800.00.  I called Amtrak to ask how many points would be required for the same trip and they said 40,000 amtrak points.  That happens to be the exact points you receive for the CSP after meeting the spend requirement.  So, 40k UR points, transferred to a travel partnet like Amtrak equates to over 1800 in cash.  Well worth the HP.

Unfortunately, instead of going to Glacier National Park, we took a 7 day cruise to the caribbean.  While the excursions were nice, being stuck on a boat was *not* my cup of tea.  That was my 1 and only cruise vacation.

Right on not doing the PC, but both Freedom and CSP are UR points cards, so the cashback to points isn't an issue.

True, but without the CSP the UR points on the Freedom are non-transferrable (i.e. effectively cash back). Granted, you do make a good point. Since the Freedom is technically a points card, even if the points have limited use without a card like the CSP, Chase might be more willing to allow the PC.
