Chase Freedom and CSP

I have been getting offers from Chase for Freedom and CSP in the mail seems like once a week. Do I need another card? Are both of these cards worth getting with what I have already? If I had to choose one, which one is better?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Chase Freedom and CSP

I think the question of whether or not you need another card is up to you...

Think of what you spend money on.  The Freedom is comparable to the Discover it, which you have, although the categories are somewhat different.  The Sapphire Preferred is great for dining and travel redemption, although the annual fee (after the first year) may not be justified if you don't use the benefits a lot.  You can also apply for both and use them together to maximize points (transfer points from 5x categories on the Freedom and redeem using SP).

I see you have a Slate.  Are you happy with Chase (customer service, CLIs, etc.)?  That is also a big factor to consider in opening new lines with them.

This decision honestly just depends on your personal spending.  Go to Chase's site and research the cards more.  Look through some threads here about other's experiences.  Then decide.  Good luck!

Card/Limit/Opened — Discover it: $27,600 2/14 | Chase Sapphire Preferred: $10,500 7/14 | Banana Republic Visa: $10,000 7/14 | USAA Cash Rewards Visa Signature: $9,000 6/11 | Chase Freedom: $2,000 3/12
History — AAoA: 42 months | Oldest account: 119 months (including AU) | Inquiries: 1 EX 0 EQ 0 TU | Score: 765 (Discover TU) 750 (USAA CreditCheck Monitoring EX FAKO)

Keep in mind that Chase rarely gives CLIs. All requested CLIs will be a HP. If you do not use your Slate much and you are nearing the end of the 0% promo, you could App for the CSP and then move the Slate CL over to it. You do need to use it regularly to make the AF worth it though.

The Freedom/CSP combo is amazing.

This is very true. As for whether you should app, that depends on you. If you want great travel rewards, I would go for it, but both of them. Unless you need a balance transfer, I would either

 - app for both and then reallocate Slate to these cards and close

- PC Slate to Freedom and app for CSP.

The first option MAY give you a higher total CL after all is said and done, and it will get you the sign up bonus on the Freedom. However, it's an extra HP and IDK how Chase feels about close in apps.

However, these cards complement each other perfectly. I love my CSP and the benefits, and having the Freedom just adds to it AND it doesn't cost anything extra.

The Freedom/CSP/Ink combo is amazinger! (assuming one can obtain the ink). Can't wait to get my Ink in the future to complete my combo!

Re: Chase Freedom and CSP

Thank you all for the great advices! I may apply for both for the reward options later. I am currently gardening until October to pay off my Slate which was only used for balance transfer 9 month ago.

If you aren't using the Slate for paying off the BT still, you can always ask for a PC to Freedom now. I don't think they HP for that, so it couldn't hurt.
