I have the old Freedom Visa and my mum just opened up a Freedom Flex what is the difference between the two. Besides the Visa and MasterCard.

Flex includes other categories like dining and pharmacies (I think).
Congrats to mum on the new Freedom Flex. This should have the 12-months to spend $12,000 on groceries at 5 points earning?
I went for the old freedom just before it closed due to the fact if they keep the quarterly bonus at Costco or gas the flex would be useless. Unless you are willing to go thru the hassle of ordering Costco giftcards online

Yes, 5% on groceries. The big question in Jan 2022 5% category is that she will get 10%.

Not exactly, the exact numbers are 1% + 4% +4%
Where's this info? I just want to make sure I understand it. I'm waiting for my Flex to come in the mail. I didn't see the %5 for a year on groceries but would like to verify it, that would be fantastic.

If you log into your account after the transaction post, Chase shows the breakdown of points earned for each transaction.
Wow, I just logged in to see my offers for my Freedom and they had Target at 10% for the next 25 days. I activated it. Several other offers but that was really the only one I would use. Sweet!

Yes. The old Freedom was a Visa and did not get the enhancements added to the "new" Freedom Flex as well as the "old" Freedom Unlimited when Chase revised the cards last year. The old Freedom just got 1% on everything plus 4 bonus point (5% total) on up to $1500 in quarterly spending on the rotating categories. The old Freedom card is no longer available for new applications.
The Freedom Flex gets the 1% and 4 bonus points but it ALSO earns:
And yes, Freedom Flex is a Mastercard. The fact that I got the new offers above on my Freedom Unlimited anyway and that I wanted the Visa card for use at Costco made me decide to keep it instead of product-changing into the Freedom Flex.
