Glad to hear that it worked for you as well. I enjoy the convenience of sending a secure message rather than speaking to a CSR, I was also surprised that I didn't get a canned "please call our 1-800...." run around.

Just SMed Chase about this (and also about Signature upgrade)... we'll see what they say. Kind of expecting that canned response.

beenjammin & irrational - the Chase SM worked. Chase Freedom Visa was converted on Saturday with the Chase Freedom Visa Signature in my hands Tuesday by Rush Card (Chase paid). Note I was informed June 15th that my Chase Freedom MC product change to Visa was scheduled for August 15th and would be a regular Chase Freedom Visa with EMV Chip. The early product conversion to Visa Signature did NOT contain an EMV Chip.
That's great to hear!
I'll post back for sure and let everyone know how it goes, but from hearing your success I'm hoping for the best!

Well, finally heard back... I got a big fat "no" on both EMV and Signature:
Dear sir,
Thank you for contacting Chase inquiring about a product
change to a Visa Signature card and a card with the EMV
chip.
At this time, I'm unable to change your account to a
different product. An account that is open less than 12
months is not eligible to change to a different product.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
As an alternative, you may apply for a new product.
New applications are available on-line at our secure
website. Please visit our website referenced below for the
most current offers and terms available:

When selecting the credit card that best meets your needs,
please remember that our policy no longer allows for
customers to have more than one credit card in the same
product. Applications for a card product you already have
may not be eligible for approval.
In your e-mail you are also referring to a Freedom card
with the EMV chip. Though the card you have now doesn't
have a chip-enabled version, we're writing to provide you
with a list of our products that do.
We currently offer the following chip-enabled cards:
* Chase Sapphire Preferred
* Hyatt Credit Card
* Marriott Premier
* Ritz-Carlton Rewards
* British Airways
If you're interested in applying for one of these cards,
please call us at the number on the back of your card or
visit chase.com to learn more.
Thank you for your business and your trust. If you have
additional questions, please call us at the number on the
back of your card or visit chase.com/smartchip. We're
always available to assist you.
If you have any further questions, please reply using the

Received a replacement card for my Chase Freedom MasterCard today 07-28-14. It is a Chase Freedom Visa Card with EMV Chip. Note, it gets more interesting as my account was converted earlier in the month to a Chase Freedom Visa Signature Card (NPLS) and a card that does NOT have an EMV Chip. Contacted CS by telephone and they informed me that The Chase Freedom Visa Signature Card I received could NOT be obtained with an EMV Chip at this time. The expiration dates and CVW codes were different. Also the new Chase Freedom Visa Non-Signature Card contained a "Card member Since." Customer service informed me to shred the new Chase Freedom Non-Signature Card with EMV Chip as it was not valid due to the product conversion to Visa Signature.

Seems like they are targeting the previous Freedom MasterCard holders right now, which sucks that they get converted to non-signature. I would rather ake a Signature with no EMV than a non-Signature with EMV, so congrats!
I'm in no rush to get the EMV, but I've been slightly worried since I haven't heard anything from Chase regarding my MC Freedom (was auto PC'd from a student card a year ago). So I still have 2 Freedom's in Visa and MC and a Visa CSP.

So then this means that those that have Freedom WMC being converted to Freedom Visa Sig will not get EMV?
I don't think I'll ever understand the logic behind Chase and other banks decisions of which cards and what priorities they assign for roll out of EMV. One would assume that all travel cards in a banks lineup would get first priority of conversions but I noticed that Chase United Club still does not have EMV (but their BA card does and have had for awhile). With Citi, I was disappointed that the Citi AA Exec I got doesn't have secondary chip and pin but the AA Plat does.
Hopefully, by next year, all this confusion and inconsistencies will subside.
