dilettante - in your case you may see an EMV Chip. My card was converted during this upgrade process and threw it out of rotation (when my card was puller for a change from Chase Freedom MC to Visa it was not a WMC or Visa Signature at the time). So you might have a different outcome. Seems that Chase may be allocating card stock for the conversion first.
My Freedom is a plain old MC. It was my first Chase card, my first +25K many years ago and I've never requested changes on it for any reason. And until recently, my only MC.
I was just wondering if those who might have Freedom WMC would get chip with their conversion or if for some quirky reason, they're not doing it .
I just get annoyed with all the inconsistencies when it comes to cc's and Chase. They wouldn't let me get a EMV chip with my CSP WMC when they were rolling out the EMV's for the CSP. CSR said it was not available for WMC because later on it would be converted to Visa Sig. They still had not converted it when I closed it last month.
I think most of the posts are correct. I can tell you that I applied and was approved for a new Freedom card which came in the first of this month and it did NOT have the EMV chip in it....just a non chip Visa. On the other hand my mom who has had her Chase Freedom for several years now was up for renewal this month and last week she received a new visa siggy Chipped card to replace her old outdated card. It does appear that only accounts with upcoming expirations are getting the chips and not brand new account or newly opened, or pre-existing. Who knows with Chase what their method to their madness is! lol

Thanks for the info, at least that answers the question that they will chip the Visa Sig replacements.
Will be interesting to see what version I get, been using Chase Freedom for over 10 years, the WMC with PayPass for over 6 years. The CSR that responded to my secure message when I asked why my account had a message about an account change just mentioned that it was due to a conversion to VISA cards and nothing else and that it might take until Sept. 15 to receive my new card.

Do let us know when you receive your card. CSRs have been telling me that my card will eventually be changed to Visa for the about a year but I have still not received any notices in my online account or by mail. My Freedom card is not due to expire until 2016 so I'm wondering if it will be toward the tail end of all conversions.

Interesting, my card was good thru 7/16, but will update as well once new card is received.
You're welcome dilletant! Yes hers was a visa sig. with EMV and mine showed on the app it was a MC but when it arrived it was a VISA but no EMV though.

This makes me incredibly intrigued...I'll have to keep my eyes peeled come November/December
If you want it, just ask.
I, too, was a WMC holder, and when I learned of the conversion, I just ripped the band-aid off. Then, when I learned about the EMV, I just asked them to reissue the card. Idk, I just like to get messiness like this done and over with.
I was excited at first to hear of the "redesign," but the card is even uglier now, so meh. EMV woulda looked great on the old Freedom Plus design circa 2009... still convinced a graphic design intern in Marketing was tasked to do the design less than 10 min before its deadline
my non-world MC convert to non-signature VISA, received card today with emv, updated my signature with the image on mailer.
