I received my chase freedom last month and it did not come with a chip. I sent a SM to Chase, they responded in minutes saying my account was eligible for chip and signature card. And that I will receive my card in 3-5 days.
I am also regreting it because i love how my freedom looks and everyone is saying the emv version is ugly. I should have my card anyday now, ill give an update on how
i feel about the cards looks ![]()
I will be calling today to see if i can get it wohooo!
I've got a Freedom and Sapphire with an EMV chip. Just send a secure message and they will have one to you within the week.
I wouldn't worry about the Freedom being ugly with a chip. IMO it is ugly either way, lol. It is bright and garish. I wish they would let you change the design. I don't have one anymore, but I never thought it was an attractive card so the chip makes little difference.
The Sapphire looks nice either way.
I Have both the EMV and non EMV Freedom cards in my hand. I had to specifically request EMV cards which I got in early to mid december of last year. Also I will be recieving my Signature cards in the mail in the next few days or so, So when those arrive I will see if they come as Visa Siggy EMV cards. But its something you have to request.
Also as a side note. Does anyone know if they are reverting the Slate card back to a regular credit card orination. I have a friend who has it and it looks like its in a normal credit card format, not the normal sideways or "stood up position". Im not sure if its from a product change or what but its intresting to see it.
Another side note. the EMV is ugly I loved the old design. They get rid of the chase logo and make it much smaller to compensate for the chip itself. was a bit disapointing.
(computer glitched double post)-sorry

It may be still, but as time goes on, more and more issuers are defaulting to issuing chip cards because of the upcoming liability shift. So most Amex cards now come with a chip, and I would be surprised if it doesn't become the default with Chase soon.
My new Freedom came with the EMV chip. It's bigger and more awkward looking than the ones on my BoA and AMEX.
It's an odd looking card either way...
got my first freedom card and it came with the chip
Just applied for Chase Freedom last week and received it today and it does have the chip.
