Chase Freedom

Hi everyone so my next card that I plan to get is the Chase Freedom.

With the new Discover IT free fico score, my credit history has finally reached 6 months and I just received my credit score of 644. I couldn't believe how high my score was knowing that my history of credit is quite small and my util is a staggering 70%. I plan on bringing down my util to <10% and also waiting till I have 8 months of history. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much my score will boost as I know util is a big factor in the FICO score. Also what are my chances of being approved with 8 months of history, some student loans, and <10% util?

Thanks

Re: Chase Freedom

I think getting your util under 10% and i think having a Chase checking account helps. Then I would say your chances I would say are very good.

Re: Chase Freedom

We can't tell you that you'll get X points.  All you can refer to is this:

Utilization is 30%.

Re: Chase Freedom

I paid off my Discover card from nearly maxed out (97%) and my overall utilization dropped drastically. Once that balance was reported, my credit score jumped up 27 points. It's definitely a rewarding feeling. I think if you get your utilization down and that lower balance reports to the CRA's you will be in solid shape to apply for the Chase Freedom card. Good luck with everything!!!
