Chase. How to Handle This?

I have 2 Chase cards, Slate and Freedom. Both with $2K limits. The Slate is useless as I put a Bal Transfer on it of 1.7k when I got the card in Sept and paid off in Feb. The Freedom I've had over 3 years. Last CLI was over a year ago.

I'd like to increase the limit on the Freedom. Also, do something with the Slate but I don't know what. I don't need it. I'm just over their 5/24 so getting another card is probably out. I don't know if I can close it and move it over or not. Eventually for the heck of it, I might as well PC the Freedom to a Unlimited.

Not sure how this all can work, or even what they'll do or not do.  Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed. Thanks

Scores are all in 730-740 range

Re: Chase. How to Handle This?

I have read here on the forums that some ppl has closed the Slate card and was able to move the CL onto the card they desire; which in yoir case the freedom. So that can be an option for you

Re: Chase. How to Handle This?

That would be helpful if it can be done that way. It's actually the way I was hoping that part of it would go. I still would want an overall increase on the Freedom to higher than the combined total.

All but 500 can be transferred. If its still not sufficient you might just app for another Chase card and then combine that seems to be the better way with them over asking for CLI which will be HP>

Re: Chase. How to Handle This?

I didn't even think about that. Not too bad, I guess. So that tells me that I can move the limt over, which is good. I wasn't considering apping for another card with them, because I'm pretty sure I'm at the 5/24. I got 2 cards in Sept and 3 more in the last few months.

Some of their cards don't fall under the 5/24 rule being some of the co-branded ones and usually those are the bigger liimit ones..  Can't recall the ones off the top of my head but about 5-7 of their cards still don't fall under it although i believe most are an AF card although some have 1st year waived.

edit:  I believe these are the list of cards that are still ok beyong the 5/24 rule::

Chase IHG
Chase Hyatt
Chase British Airways
Chase Disney
Chase Fairmont
Chase Marriott Business:
Chase Ritz-Carlton
Chase Amazon
Chase AARP

There are still some co-branded cards you could app for that aren't under the 5/24 rule. I know IHG is one. You can do  search on here and probably find the others.

Thanks for this list. Being on the threads a lot, I don't recall seeing a more detailed list like this to go off of. I probably need to look closely at these and see if there is one worth getting before making any moves. I had read on here that some cards may not apply, but I didn't get a sense of which ones for sure.

Thanks. You're hinting at the same thing CreditCuriosity is and I'm going to take a closer look at these.

If I would choose to app for one, I'd definitely close the Slate and move the limit over. Don't know if I'd try for the increase on the Freedom at that point though. And I'd still like to PC that to the unlimited.

Not a problem would NOT want you to waste an inquiry or two for a dumb ruleSmiley Happy.. This is what we are here for, helping out each other!   Hyatt is a GREAT card if you stay at a hotel one night a year as it pays for itself easily plus the two free nights at ANY hyatt after spend bonus is met is worth up to 1500-2k if used correctlySmiley Happy..  Although alot of good cards listed.. Chase has the market on the best reward cards bar none imo.
