I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it when I searched, but is it unusual to not get a pre-qualified offer from the Chase website, but to get a pre-approved offer in the mail? At least I think it's a pre-approval. It mentions a specific interest rate and says if you are approved it will be for at least $5K. Only in the fine print of the Terms and Conditions paper does it mention anything about "pre-approved."
What card does it offer? Any more word for word info from the letter? If itnsays specific apr what is it??
The same thing happened with me with BoA. Couldn't get pre-qualified offer on the web site, but I did get a letter with an invitation code. It had a box with "minimum terms" and a specific APR. It also had offer expiration date. I applied and was approved.
I have been getting Chase mail offers with specific rates on the Slate and Freedom too. I have never once been given an online prequal so I'm wondering the same thing.

It's neither here nor there. Some get nothing. Some get one or othe other. Some get both. It doesn't mean or tell you anything. Both are just marketing. Don't rely on them. You have no idea when the SP was performed and what changed with your credit since then. Preapps and offers are never guarantees.
