i would like suggestions what should i do? what would you do?
Do you have a recent reporting late in addition to your old lates? Or did they RJ you because you just paid late?
You need to call Citi and grovel to get your old APR back.
You really need to get some of this negative stuff aged before you app anywhere.
All Citi customers did not get their APR's raised. Mine is at 6.99%. Why was yours raised to the default rate? There has to be a reason.

they said something about investors wanting more in return so they had to jack their interest rates up.. due to the economy?
If they put you on a 29.99% APR something is wrong. Call them up and find out what it is. That's a default level rate and is punitive. It can be lowered just as easily as it was raised, but that can't happen if you don't ask.

Well, Hubby and I each have Cap 1 and our rates were increased to 17.9 and 21.9. His was increased higher and he had the best credit! Never late, never over limit. Even my mom, who has THE most impecable credit got her cards RJ'd for no good reason...

Were any of these decisions questioned?
I don't like my stupid Direct Merchants Bank MC APR (HSBC, something like 27.99%), but I picked up the phone and asked - and they gave me a 6.99%F promo rate.
