Chase Question

Hello, all. I unfortunately FC'd on a home financed from Chase in Jan 2011. I have since worked to improve credit as much as possible (current FICO's in low 700's) I currently have an AMEX PRG, NFCU Flagship 22.5K, Cap1 2.5K, and NavChek 15K. In the past three months I have been bombarded with "pre-approval / pre-selected" offers from Chase (Marriott Premier / United Club / United Mileage Plus) usually at least one a week. My question is, is it even worth apping for one of these or a CSP with my FC being just over 2 yrs old? Util 1%, AAoA 4 yrs and AMEX was 4/13.

Re: Chase Question

It is really hard to tell. The main concern is that whether Chase has blacklisted you. If they did, then you will not be approved.

If they didn't blacklist you, they'll review your application the same way as they do for everyone else, and your approval odds will depend on whatever is in your credit report.

Re: Chase Question

Appreciate it, about what I figured.  If anyone else that reads this has applied after a FC, would appreciate your results.

Re: Chase Question

It is really hard to determine whether you're blacklisted until you apply. There's been people who got approved by Chase eventually even though Chase was included in the BK. And of course there are also people whom are blacklisted.

No one other than Chase knows as to whether how long are people blacklisted for and what are the criterias to be blacklisted or to get off the blacklist.

If you're really interested in the Chase card, your best bet is to apply, and if denied, explain it to reconsiderations.

I've read that sometimes they will not even pull an inquiry for people that are blacklisted. I am not sure if that is true however.

This is good advice if you really feel like you'd like a Chase card.  I was on the auto-decline list for a while due to my BK, but a quick call to recon had me in contact with a really nice analyst who went over my credit report as well as my previous soured relationship with the bank.  I was recommended for approval and received a card with just short of a 5 digit limit.
