I just got my card. I got it for the points offer.  If you don't mind the annual fee then go for it!

@Gregory1776

update: they pre-approved me but now they're saying they need to review my application. I don't know how it will go, I haven't reached the 5-24 rule yet so I guess we'll see.

Recommend calling them. I've had good success calling in after submitting apps:  many times, just wanted to verify/confirm a couple of items. You got this!

I need some advice on what to do next on my credit card journey. I am pre-approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred which is a card I've been looking at because they have the 100,000 point bonus offer right now. The main question I have is should I get it? I don't really have a travel card so I know it would help with that, however it would replace my Capital One Savor with the dining 3x. My Savor was my first credit card that I've had for 2+ years now. I'm stuck at a 2k credit limit with it because I didn't know much about credit cards at the time so I never tried to request increases. Should I get the Sapphire Preferred and sock drawer my Savor? What should be my next steps?

sig block is current.

I'm mulling this over as well. 🤔

I've had it before, but I'm past the 48 month period so I would be OK there.  I'm also newly 0/24 as of last month, however I don't (yet??) show any preapprovals in my Chase offers.

If you don't have a Freedom (or only have one) that is a good downgrade path if you want the points but don't have a use for the CSP itself - that's how I got my first Freedom card. Now that I have two Freedoms (OG Visa and Freedom Flex) I really don't have a use for a third, so I'm on the fence on pulling the trigger.

Unfortunately I don't have any use for the travel portal or any of the coupons, so for me the CSP is a 3% dining card with a $95 annual fee.  Put another way, there's really nothing redeeming about it (for me) other than the bonus.

Edit:  I see that you applied; good luck!

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred…Should I get it?

Get it for bonus.  I also enjoy it for the $50 hotel credit and primary rental car insurance along with point transfer out to Hyatt.  I use it quite a bit for dining at 3%.  Get easily a few nights at a hyatt a year for a $95 AF card that I use a decent amount but certainly not solely.  I think it is still one of the overall best cards around depending if you eat out a decent amount and can also use the rental insurance/hotel credit and transfer points to their partners particularly hyatt properties as 5k-7500k points can get you a room at an ok hyatt place type hotel.

@UncleB
I'm mostly doing it for the sign up bonus. I have a freedom flex but the 5% categories are always hit or miss for me because I have a Discover which also has 5% categories.

Re: Chase Sapphire Preferred…Should I get it?

Just keep it ya cheapos it's a good ongoing deal even at $95

Use the doordash credit for grocery pickup and feed your whole family a rotisserie chicken once a month.  That's worth $120, but say you usually buy your rotisserie chickens at costco for $5 - so we'll call it as only worth $60. I know potatoehead doesnt have costco since it has an annual fee, so for him it's worth $120

Stay in a hotel once a year.  Even if you don't travel, you're going to get talked into a wedding or somethign you're obligated to go to.  $50 credit.

You're already a net gain in the very least of $15 per year.

Then you get 1 year warranty extensions.  Free hotels and food if your flight gets delayed long enough.  Primary rental car coverage.  Luggage delay/loss reimbursement.  Purchase protection if you're visiting a great american city like SF LA Chicago NYC etc. and get robbed on the way out of the store.  If they break the window of your rental car to steal it later then you're covered two ways.

He knows.

it is definitely going to be a beneficial card for me. I'm at least staying at a hotel 1 a year, easy 3-5 or more if we count unscheduled trips.
I do hope it won't change. If the Reserve stays the same and doesn't become a coupon book that makes it very difficult for me to earn credits, it won't be PCd.

and the CSR is the one I want. Looks way cooler and as is now, I'd get more benefits from it naturally.
